Is the Disney world "magic" still here?

What are your thoughts?

It seems that The Disney we knew 10-15 years ago is long gone and seems to be far to little sparks to excite us about the Future.

I am going to say this D23 expo was a bust. It was very lack luster and I know some may say we should not of expected big news so dont get all worked up, but I say yes we should have. Disney guests hold the WDW company to the highest standards and Disney has responed over the years. It seems now that there just is little hope.

We all agree that there are some cool things comming but nothing game changing. I am not sure what kind of tech they are putting into the Mermaid ride, but I am still more excited to go on Splash mtn myself.

So where has it gone? We all want to believe it it ous there but is it?

I'm not sure what you're asking here. Are you saying whatever "magic" you had when it came to WDW is gone because of the D23 Expo, or the lack of "game changing" things within the FLE? I guess I'm not following you completely....

The idea of "magic" when it comes to visiting the parks is pretty subjective. Obviously you feel a loss of the nostalgic past and of an uninspiring future. Others may look to the completion of the FLE, along with other projects, in a more positive light.

Either way, I think there's probably enough of a draw by WDW to keep us visiting there for some time to come....

It sounds to me like your upset over no "big news" at the Expo so your venting some.

I still feel alot of Magic when I enter the parks. Remember alot of what you feel is what you make of it.

If you don't enjoy it - don't go.

Only way to change things.

If you continue to go, they have no reason to change.

Yeah the D23 thing was a disappointment, but to say that the "magic" is gone now? Going into extremes much? IMO, the "magic" comes from your own attitude.

Not sure what magic you're referring to. We've been going since the '70s and it is still there for us. We're celebrating our 45th anniversary Friday and it's still magic too. I suspect, as others have suggested, the magic is in the beholder.

Take a child to WDW for their first trip and then ask them if the magic is gone. Just because as we get older and understand how Disney does all of the things that make the rides and effects work it still does not make WDW less magical. Things will never seem as magical as they were years ago when we as children only worried about having fun at WDW and not having to worry about things like jobs, family, money ect. thats why the good old days are always in our past

D23 was only a let down because last year had such big news. They can't announce a new land or park every year. Disney has not lost any magic. You can see it in every childs eyes when you are there.

I agree & when I'm there I can see it in my eyes. I just think for the most part, most seem impressed with what ioa has accomplished with harry potter.Disney's answer is fantasy land? I'm thinking it will be popular but Disney is never done, they will plus it.

Potterland is also small & although immensely popular right now, will be less magical in years to come. I think the cast member & interactions with kids & adults and the memory of Walt is a lasting memory that will never lose its glimmer nor magic. imo

That is true and time will tell if the seven dwarfs mine coaster will compete.
Dwarfs mine coaster just seems so similar in theme to BTMRR but I am looking forward to it. Could do without the princess M&G where the current Snow White is

Just watched the simulated ride video & seems good but the other attributes of what it & fantasy land has to offer,is what I'm looking forward to.

I had a long gap in between visits. I went in 2002 and when I went in 2009 it was 7 and a half years since I'd been there. I was 29 then, married, brought my wife for the first time. I told myself on the plane ride down there not to get too upset if it just wasn't the "same" anymore. I'm a grown man now, I've matured so it might be inadequate in my eyes now, who knows?

Well, we stayed offsite two miles away from WDW and driving from the airport to the resort I took a turn accidentally going into WDW. We went under the Walt Disney World sign and my wife was just like a kid in a candy store. I had to do a u-turn at the Epcot gates. She saw Spaceship Earth and kept asking "Okay, now where's the castle? Where's the castle?" It was in the evening and we weren't going to go to WDW until two days later so it was kind of a tease. But right then as soon as we drove under the sign that feeling sweeped over me. That same feeling.

Then we went to MK on the Monday to start and the whole day was magical and just felt like old times, maybe even better. So yeah to the OP sorry I have to disagree with you, the magic still grips me every time I go there. I can't shake it.
