I would agree with those statements....however, there are some things other cruise lines offer that are better than Disney. I think the activities on Disney are very lacking and are spectacular on RCCL. And for some reason, my kids said the program on RCCL was better than Disney. As for the private islands, I would say they are about the same with the exception of Disney being able to dock there. So I guess there is no BEST, just depends on what you value most out of the ship.

I have just finished part of my vacation this morning on The Disney Wonder and I must say that it was absolutely incredible, the service was the best service we have ever been given anywhere, the ship was miraciously clean, the entertainment was out of this world and the only ships in the world that are allowed to have fireworks.

I give my vote to them being the best ships sailing our seas.

but once the RCCL has ppl get sea sick. and RCCL once had a virus onboard.
those problems don't happen on DCL
They can happen on any cruise line, including DCL in 2002 (http://archives.cnn.com/2002/TRAVEL/11/30/disney.sick.cruise/).

I loved both of our Disney cruises. My only other crusie was many years ago, and it was no comparison. The ship itself is just grand to look at. My only complaint is that I wish there were more over-18 100% nonsmoking areas. I don't think that's something you'll get more of on other ships, though.

I certainly wouldn't trade the experience for a cheaper Carnival cruise. It seems like everything there is aimed at young party, party, party adults, and that just isn't my style.

Only ships allowed to have fireworks? Where did you here this? There have been fireworks with cruise lines long before DCL ever existed.

As for illnesses on ships, it happens on all cruise lines, all the time. The media picks and chooses what they report.

It may be allowed, but currently, DCL is the only cruise company to HAVE fireworks at Sea.

I've been on RCCL, and DCL wins hands down!

Fireworks at sea

It took them 2 years to get perminion to do it. My guess as to why other cruise lines don't do it is it could be taken as a sign of distress. Also there is the safty factor, don't forget Disney has many firworks patents and could be lanching them using there ALF tecnology.

Disney Cruise Line is great! You can have a lot of fun with all the Disney magic.

However, there is one thing that Disney Cruise ships lack: Casinos.

If you are looking to get your thrills by gambling money away, you won't find it in DCL.

So in that way, the cruise ship is lacking.

Sorry to weigh in so late. I was on the Disney Wonder in December when they decided to give us another day at CC because it rained part of the scheduled day there. Two Days!! I would have to say the ship was very clean, I saw people wiping down rails and buttons all over the ship on a regular basis. The food was TOO Good! and the service was much more that I ever expected. It was a great experience and I can't wait to save up enough for the 7 day western cruise. As for the gambling, they did have bingo on board and you could go to Atlantis at Nassau.

I agree, They do a better job than other cruise line. You won't find more non-smoking areas on other ships. Cunard has way too many smoking areas and every single one of the clubs and bars has smoking. It really drifts from section to section. What's even worse is the cigar bar, that stench could be smelled down through corridors, stairwells and into the conference areas.

I disagree, I didn't once miss a casino. I don't go on a cruise to stay inside and waste my time sitting at a slot machine or blackjack table. There are so many other things to do. Our Wonder cruise was non-stop.

I don't like casinos either, but there is one important purpose they serve - they bring down the price of the cruise.
Without the extra income that a casino brings in Disney has to charge more for the cruise.

It really all depends on your personal preference. I have sailed on RCL, DCL, Carnival (pure junk imo), and will be on Princess this year. DCL was great at who it is geared for, families. As most people on here are families they will tend to like DCL more than other lines and other just for the mere fact that it is the brand Disney. IMO each cruise line has it pros and cons depending on what you are looking to get out of your vacation. We just happen to love RCL for their ships. We love the Voyager class ships and can't wait to go on the Freedom class. But to each his own.

We've been on Royal Caribbean, Holland America, and Carnival...and prefer DCL to any of them. I think the cabins are nicer (the little touches add a lot), we like the restaurant changes, and we think the shows are better. The fireworks are just a neat addition, too. And even though the other cruise lines do cater to you, the Disney people just seem to...do it better! And Castaway Cay just can't be beat!:animwink:

I don't completely agree with that. Cunard, Crystal and Celebrity all have casinos yet they are significantly more expensive than Disney. The services and quality really aren't that much better and in some cases much lesser than Disney.

I can't really compare, I've only been on Disney. I will say everyone in our party of 17 (including adults with no kids) were ready to rebook again immediately!!:sohappy:
