Is the clock ticking on the Sorcerer Mickey Hat icon at the Studios? YES!

Go. Everyone needs to go and enjoy that welcome view again. It was so nice walking down Hollywood Boulevard and seeing NO HAT. It was so much more open, even with the walls. I couldn't stop taking pictures. I rode the Great Movie Ride in honor of my visit and the hat being down. (It was busy but not awful; awful was at the Magic Kingdom). Shout out to GMR host Lowell, who was fantastic. Probably one of the best hosts I've ever had. I normally get some clunkers (the cowboy we got was NOT understandable at all).

The ride also looked pretty good. Many animatronics looked very fluid. I'm sure there's still plenty to fix (I get sad seeing the footlight parade not move, but hey, there's bubbles, lol) and effects shut off, but it looked good. They really need to do something with Tarzan though. And the TINY horror section.

I'm not tall enough to reach over the walls and will never ever own a selfie stick (saw many in use along with numerous tablets ... sigh), so sorry gang, no over the wall pictures.

Having never ridden the great movie ride, could you tell me really quick what movies you go through?

Mary Poppins, Singing in the Rain, general western scenes (with Clint Eastwood and John Wayne), mob underworld (James Cagney), Alien, Indiana Jones, Casablanca, Tarzan, Fantasia!, Wizard of Oz. Sort of in that order but not totally. The ride vehicle will stop once for the mobster/cowboy takeover, crawls through the rest and stops during the Wizard of Oz. There's one more stop but you can see that one yourself.

You know the saying... "If you can dream it, you can do it." Unfortunately, it doesn't read... If you can dream it, THEY can do it. :(

So no horror movie stuff? Cause the other guy said there was a small horror section. I'm just checking cause don't want to take a little girl on anything scary, she is easily frightened.

The Alien scene could be frightening as the alien drops down towards your car from the ceiling.

If you let her know it will happen it will take the element of surprise away. However, if you have seen the movie, then you will be able to judge if she could handle seeing the alien at all.

There's a very small horror section. It consists of skeletons moving their arms. Alien is probably the scariest part for a child but there were children around me in the front two rows and the host let them know before Alien came up [one of the children was concerned about the ride, which led the host to tell them to cover up when it came around]. The kids seemed to do fine, but of course everyone reacts differently. The gangster/cowboy scenes involve shoot outs and fires, so that could potentially be scary for a very young kid. It's worth a ride though.

Thank you! I have not seen the movies, not into the horror/thriller genre. One thing you should know: element of surprise=bad. This is the girl who doesn't like surprise parties, and hides when there are fireworks. How big exactly is the alien? And an estimate of how close? Cause it could literally ruin the trip if she gets scared, cause then she's suspicious of everything. Note: Loves HM, though.

So there are hosts on the ride with you? The gangster/cowboy scenes won't scare her, its just things that are creepy. Violence is fine, just no creepy. Is the skeleton scene from Jason & the Argonauts?

It comes out of the ceiling. With steam effect and the lights flash on it intermittently.

Yes, there's a live host onboard the entire ride, narrating most of it and they become a part of the ride.

It's frightening for sure; I still jump a bit when it happens even though I know it's coming. But it's over quick.
