Is the clock ticking on the Sorcerer Mickey Hat icon at the Studios? YES!

Holy Cow! I never realized there was a Mickey there. :D
I didn't know about the Mickey until a post from about 2-3 years ago here complaining about the BAH in which someone mentioned how it killed the "Hidden Mickey" in the hub. I almost argued with the person saying there wasn't one there but pulled up Google Earth first (and saved myself the embarrassment). LOL!

Wand removal started on 7.9.07 and I think the entire structure was gone by early september.

Keep in mind, though, that that was a lot more complicated.
I'd imagine that in addition to the TCM thing, they'd probably want it down pretty quickly as this is weirdly getting a lot of bad press, huh? Or do they not really care about that?

It's odd how much press it's getting for sure but I'm not sure that it will change their plans. That said, with the wand removal taking less than 2 months and being a bit more complex, I just can't see a valid reason for it to take too long!

Sunset had no effect on Mickey's ear. But, yes the ear would have to be repainted.

Except with those trees...Mickey effectively had Groucho Marx's eyebrows...

Maybe they should put a litle plexiglass window on the sides of the construction (cough...demolition) walls like they did with the Mine train at Fantasyland...that could be fun!

You know what might be a half decent solution to the dreariness of Leave a Legacy? Maybe add some color to them, like a pseudo-photomosaic effect using the old pavilion logos and some other visual elements. Add a new fountain based on the original and there you go.
That idea actually would work very well against the backdrop of UoE to the left and tie it in nicely.

It could help. I think they'd still look like a Korean War memorial though.
I've always said that those stones looked like a memorial of some sort. Glad to see it's not just me!

I've often thought that the etchings should have been done in color... like a big mural.

I think LaL just needs to be redesigned. Maybe have the tombstones get a new texture like stainless steel and reorganized so it doesn't block the entrance so much.
