Is the clock ticking on the Sorcerer Mickey Hat icon at the Studios? YES!

I prefer the hat over the Chinese theatre, for a few reasons, honestly I think the hat was a more prominent icon to begin with, and you can't see the hat anywhere else. But technically I could go to California and see the Chinese theatre. And I've never seen Hollywood Studios without the hat, so I can't speak saying that the hat looks better, but I just prefer it.

I think the new Great Movie Ride should be a new show building in the shape of the BAH. Give the Chinese Theatre the Horizons treatment, then contruct the BAH shaped show building, that way it satisfies everyone. The weenie BAH will be back, and will be the park icon once again. I hope this happens!

I'm not saying the theater should be the icon, but the view is far nicer without that ugly hat in the way. I don't care what they make the icon. They can keep the BAH as the icon for all I care. Just move the ugly thing.

That's the biggest problem here. Too many people don't remember the original view as they walked down that street or they just started going to Disney within the last decade so they just assume that it was always supposed to be like that. Those of you that feel that way can take bids on who wants it sitting in their front yard. :D

agreed but many of us aren't used to the seeing studios without the hat...its become a well-known icon
Agreed that it did work itself into a sort of Icon, but, it was out of place and totally threw the view out of balance. People seem upset that they won't be able to see the BAH anymore. So all of you now know how the rest of us felt when that "thing" was put in front of the view of the theater. We had to deal with that, so I guess turnabout is fair play. And once again, for those that only read part of the threads. The Theater was never, ever and is not now considered an Icon. It was and is just a very nice, pleasant and totally in theme part of the park. Imagine, if you will, the hat placed in front of the Castle or the Tree of life or Spaceship Earth.

As said, the Hat is also in Burbank. You could also go to Bavaria to see Neuschwanstein. Montreal to see a large geodesic dome. Hawaii to see a volcano. And I've got trees right outside!

Sure, but, a geodesic dome is not a geodesic sphere. :joyfull: And to think that was built in 1966, the same year that Walt died.

DONT FORGET THE ONE IN PARIS ALSO.......

its not meant to be an icon of a movie based park...
get real
fantasia was a good movie
but its one in a million of great movies...
look at the meaning of the freaking Chinese theater
and stop complaining about the hat leaving...
it deserves to leave it has no real meaning....

I'm a little confused. How have you decided from what I have had to say about the BAH that I am complaining about it leaving. If they would let me I'd grab a hacksaw and help take it out. I know the meaning of the "freaking" Chinese Theater. I believe that I am pretty much as real as you can get. Thanks for the reprimand though. I sure have changed my way of thinking. Oh, wait.... that wouldn't be true would it?

Still think we could all break even in some way...they just need to weld a huge-patootied wizards hat on TOP of the earful tower...then they can brag even MORE about what size hat it is... and the theater would be left alone!

So far as the Theater NOT being the icon...that's fine...I mean...what is the ACTUAL icon of DCA? There's only like 3 different things used in promotion...the centerpieces of the DHS/DCA type parks are as unique as the park designs themselves...and that's cool. Not every Disney park follows Walt's "hub" and therefore the centerpiece being the icon isn't obligatory...

In my opinion, so far as layout and offerings go, DCA/DHS (or whatever the thing will be called soon) type parks are probably the most unique and weird. To me, anything goes...just so long as whatever that vibe is...is executed well and with more effort than has been shown in a very long time...
