Yeah, I am sure there are plenty of armchair Imagineering in the thread. Anything that someone would claim to be official would have to have been since the official announcement otherwise it would have lent credence to the long standing rumors of the hat's removal.

OK, thanks I hadn't seen that one. The bad part is that there is talk about also getting rid of Echo Lake and if I remember correctly, that was one of Mickey's ears.

Then why is the date on that permit for 11/10/14? I get what you are saying, but the permit for construction of the hat would have the actual hat in the permit drawings. Judging by the permit they are going to leave the concrete base that is already there. They are just removing the hat and adding the other concrete short sitting walls as indicated by the words "hub enhancement". So no. That is not what it looks like with the hat in place. That is what it would look like if they remove the pin store and just lifted the hat away then added some short sitting walls.

The notice is for demolition, not construction. What is shown is based on how the plan is cut, so there is no guarantee that the Hat would be shown in an as built drawing.

I guess we need to keep a close eye on the permits to see if one is filed to put a new building of some sort on that spot.

I think "Hub Enhancement" just clarifies that that boxed area is in fact the area they will be demolishing. I see nothing to indicate what will be built. Only what is currently there (i.e. the swirly gold things)...
