Thanks! I will say the break has started to get me interested in going again (after all the covid stuff is done and gone). I miss the food! lol I'm dying for a steak from France or Ohana's breakfast/dinner. I've been chatting with my cousin and may look into going with her on her next trip. But my 40th is next year and I really want to do a 2 week trip to Hawaii first. We'll see what happens.

My cousin decided to take a break from the Poly and tried the Wilderness and raved about it. I would be very sad if they turned it into a DVC; they absolutely ruined the Polynesian for me with their DVC (In my opinion). Once the Poly went DVC I definitely started losing interest in staying there. They pretty much just priced me out and I shared the room with 3 other family members but it just wasn't worth it to me any more. And aside from money, I watched all the little gems of the resort start to slowly disappear. the Bungalows just cr owded the beach. The little stream and bridge they had outside the pool and the lobby fountain were my favorite parts of the resort. all gone. It was sad to watch so I would feel bad if they did it to Wilderness too.

Well it wouldn't be fort wilderness that changed but the property being added next to it was definitely messing things up. A big portion of the beach was going to be taken away for it, most of it actually. All the wooded areas were mostly gone and all those animals displaced. The best part of the fort was that you really feel secluded and away from all the hustle and bustle. That new resort next to it may not have changed much in the long run but just to build it, the whole settlement area(on the beach) was a maze of walls. At some point Disney needs to just stop and let things be. I get upgrades and upkeep but eventually it's going to be deluxe prices or nothing. And people who pay for deluxe resorts like the poly want those things you mentioned.

I know we are in the middle of a pandemic but it seems that Disney is slowly taking away some of the “Magic” while staying at Disney. I know some items will return but some things seem to be gone for good.

• Free Parking
• Magic Bands (At least the free ones when arriving at Disney Hotel)
• Magical Express
• Evening Magic Hours
• Fasspass (May Return, but will it be the same as before)

I just don’t know about the advantage of staying at Disney anymore.

It long left. When you needed to get in a line to meet a character, or buy a "party" ticket to stay later or have a decent seat for fireworks. We the guests though are as much to blame as Disney though, we ate it up and treated people dressed up like actual princesses (and I mean adults). But it's still a good time.

As far as Disney Magic disappearing --- I so hope not... We travel 3000 miles every year since 1998 (until recently) where simply awesome employees make small things seem major (and awesome) ... and super small things are just taken care of. I think if Disney loses out on this it will have a MAJOR impact in the long run.

I will say we are usually Club level, extras buying guests.... We'd pay for fast passes, we'd pay for extra hours events (and have in the past), tours, etc...

I will say CM's are the magic in many ways...

Parking was free at the hotels, dining cost much less, shorter lines so no fastpass+ needed . Also there was a Disney Magic perk called e ride night. You paid about $13 each for 3+ hours in Magic Kingdom ..only for onsite hotel guests. Cast members were a delight and the park was spotless.
Rick52 is right. Not everyone will see that. We all have different reasons for going. Personally I'd hate to see Disneyworld become just another amusement park.

Pre-covid, WDW had a thing called Disney After Hours, but it was significantly more expensive than E-ride nights and it's one of the things that some people blame for shorter park hours and thus disappearing magic.

I just looked at Universal and they have a 5 night/4 day package at their Deluxe Hotels with Express Pass for 3k, its such a better deal, We might be switching our park experience this year

Agree with the general sentiment here (RE: Disney using the pandemic as an excuse to cut corners) but not necessarily with the list. I'm with you on the loss of free parking and the Magical Express but am pretty confident EMH will be back (& iirc Disney is already planning to offer early park access for resort guests) and I 100% prefer the parks sans FP. The Magic Band upcharge doesn't especially bother me since MagicMobile has rendered them more of a fun collectible than a necessity. As a fan, I wouldn't hesitate to drop $5-10 on a Magic Band design I really liked, knowing it would cost double that in the parks. And casual visitors who choose to bypass the Magic Band in favor of MagicMobile won't be missing out on anything.

For me, the lack of roaming entertainment, and omission of non-crowd forming activities and enhancements (like the Holiday Dream Lights on the castle and gingerbread structures in the resort lobbies) are the real glaring issues here, especially compared w/ Universal.......but those complaints obviously aren't limited to the resort guests' experience.

UO definitely offers better value for your money in a lot of respects (at least atm), but I would never be interested in more than a 1-2 day vacation at Universal so that point is kind of moot for me.

I'd give it 3 days if I'm also going to Volcano Bay. Maybe when the Epic opens I could see 4 days there. Universal is slowly pushing to become a resort where someone could spend a full vacation.

Doing 11 nights at Endless Summer in peak Halloween October/November for $1200. In a few-months-old resort. All-Star Movie was over double the price. Universal on-site is honestly the way to go.

UO definitely offers better value for your money in a lot of respects (at least atm), but I would never be interested in more than a 1-2 day vacation at Universal so that point is kind of moot for me.

Honestly, with Uber and/or driving to/parking at WDW, you still save a TON of money by saving on property at Universal over Disney. I suggest it to everyone now.
