Is Stitch's Great Escape really as bad people have been saying? Should we skip it?

Me and my wife are going to disney world in december.. we are taking our moms who have never been there before. Anyway, we wanted to make this trip very special and didn't want to do any disapointing rides as its their first time in wdw.

My wife loves stitch... and wanted to go on the ride but we read only bad things about it.

Is it really as bad as people are making it sound? Would it ruin my wife's love of stitch? Would it ruin our moms first impression of walt disney world? Hmm.. I'm not sure if we should do this ride.

There are about 284 different threads debating this attraction. Opinions vary from "It sucks" to "It's OK, but could have been so much better".

Not seen it myself, it opened just after my last visit.

I'd say go see it, make your own minds up and try not to be put off by some petty Internet feuding. As long as you don't have to queue for long it's not going to take much time out of your day.

If i hadn't enjoyed Alien Encounter i'd have no problems with Stitch. I wouldn't list it on my to-do list but I wouldn't mind doing it, i wont wait any long period of time for it though.

A lot of the flack that Stitch gets is because Alien was better. Take Alien out of the equasion and it's just "meh" but nothing grand. It's like much of MGM's shows to me - i could really care less, and i dont actively pursue them, but it doesn't pain me to experience them.

I rode Stitch last November when it was still in the testing phase. It was not great, but I don't think it is horrible. I think some people had really high expectations for the ride, and were disappointed. If your wife is a Stitch fan, she might like it. Even if you don't like it, I don't think it will ruin your whole trip for you.

Stop attacking Stich

I happen to like both Stitch and Extraterror Encounter, however i belive Disney made the right choice in putting stich in the park. He's the biggest cartoon character they have created for a very long time. The orginal version was a fantastic experience, but in my opion was totally out of place in the Magic Kingdom, and frightened too many guests.

The Magic Kingdom, is where i go if i want to see the characters I know and love, and Encounter was far too frightening for some of the guests in the park. Ive been on Stich twice and while i do feel the ride has lost some of the charm it used to have when it was Encounter, Stich is a much better counterpart in the park and fits into the environment alot better, seeing as Buzz is right round the corner.

I also love hearing stich take over the monorail announcment, and seeing the smile of other kids faces and laughing at Stich is evidence that Disney have done the right thing in the long term.

IMO, it isn't the best attraction Disney has done (Alien Encounter was definitely better) but you won't be disappointed if the wait time is short. Anything more than 20 minutes, I wouldn't bother with.

I always tell people if it's something you have'nt done already give it at least one try. No matter what the attraction is. I wouldn't make this a priority, or wait more than 20 minutes. I haven't seen it since they tweek'd it. Maybe i'll give it another shot since on my next trip since it shouldn't be very busy. If they hadn't changed it since it's opening, I would never have gone thru it again.

Not all Disney attractions are winners. This certainly doesn't come close.

So i'd say go on it/in it, form your own opinion and don't let negative opinions keep you from trying something YOU might enjoy

I would say experience it, that way you have your own opinion of it. It's not great, but it's not awful. I agree with many people that there should of been more money spent on this attraction to make it more of a "wow" experience, though.

Like many others have stated, you'll never know until you try.

Personally, the first time I'll be experiencing it is in about 2 weeks. I'll go in with an open mind, and judge then. I would recommend as such.

^Some of the things people say are pretty darn harsh. Most of them hated Stitch in the first place.... Stitch's Great Escape isn't that bad, but it isn't too good either.

^I love Stitch, and I was really excited to try out this attraction. I was a little disappointed, but I'm still a huge Stitch fan... So, to answer your question, no. It won't ruin your wife's love of Stitch.

No, absolutely not. Don't make it the first ride you do, and don't make it the last one. If it has a long line, DO NOT wait for it! And don't waste a fast pass on it either!!...

Go, try it, see how you like it. Form your own opinion. Have a great trip! :)

You definitely have to do it to say you tried it. But...I would only go when the line is extremely short. We had to wait for 45 minutes to get in and the attraction is so short that it increased our disappointment of the attraction. It is not a good display of Disney imagineering at all, short wait or long wait. If you have a short wait to get in, then go at that moment.

No, it isn't as bad as people say. I went on it and thoroughly enjoyed it. Granted, I did go during Wishes(don't worry I had seen it the night before) so the line wasn't long, and I also enjoy anything with an amazing AA.

My experience: Painfully awful!

Seriously, if you are going to indeed go on Stich make sure you wait no more than 10 minutes for it. So then you will only be wasting about 20 minutes of your day by going on that God forsaken sorry excuse of an attraction. When I went on it I seriously felt like someone pulled me out of WDW and put me on a cheap ride at small scale amausment park.

The story is awful BECAUSE THERE IS NONE! If it wasn't for the decent AA of Stich i'd say the ride would be a complete waste of space.

Stiches Great Escape is the worst attraction in the Magic Kingdom. Last time I was there I gave it a chance. I waited 35 min in line, and it was a total waste of time. The story, the effects, everything, just plain sucked:mad:

worth a try for a fan

Since your wife loves Stitch, go. I was not impressed with it (during testing phase) but it was not "bad" to the point where I'd tell a fan to skip it. Get a Fastpass, or go at a time w/o a line, and you'll at least be able to say that you gave it a chance.

This is all that I can say.

1.Go on it with a Fastpass or something 20min wait or less.

2. Go on it with a open mind and hope for the best.

Now I am a huge fan of AE. But I also like Stitch. I went on it with a open mind and sadly,I was bored to death! The AA's are great (Only Stitch and the DNA cannon's,I don't like SARGE.) But the show is really lacking. Now the WDI's put the target audience for SGE too low. The jokes are mostly toliet humor, something I don't find real funny. (I'm 15!) Now people are saying that Stitch is better in place of AE for the kids. It may have looked good on paper for the kids. But it's rare for me to find a little kid that liked SGE! All of the kid's I have seen are in tears at the end of the show,it's really sad. I've seen parent's take their terrified toddler out halfway in the show. A Stitch ride would be nice but in my opinion,Disney took this in the most worst possible direction they could ever take it!

So just go on it with a open mind when there's 20min or less wait or Fastpass and hope for the best.

WOW ...Damien666 could you have possibly picked a darker sounding name? :fork:

I'm guessing you're an Omen fan.

Anyway , I agree with you.
I think it all boils down to if you have the time to do it, then do it.
But if your pressed for time then you aren't really missing alot.

i would say try it for yourself then make up your own opinion about it, when i went on it in may 2005 i thought it was such a crap ride and a waste of disneys money. it is a BIG let-down.
but at least i have had the chance to experience it, but it would go on my list on rides i will never go on again!

When I went on it, I was quite dissappointed.
Fortunately, it was a VERY short line.

BUT.....

I think you pretty much have to go on it.
If you don't....it will sit in the back of your mind and hound you, untill you do.

Summary:
It's worth doing once. But is one of the VERY few disney attractions that is not worth doing a second time.
