Is Star Tours going away?

Is Star Tours honestly popular anymore? The last two times I’ve ridden it there’s been less than 5 people in a vehicle with me and another time I was completely alone. I wonder why it has such a low amount of attendance considering there’s not a lot of rides there.
If you're going to the wdw version, it's most likely because the rest of DHS is a construction zone, and thus, not really worth the visit right now.

Whereas in the original George Lucas-approved canon (aka the CORRECT canon), the Solo family traced their ancestry back to the first settlers of Corellia, and included a brief Solo dynasty, of which Han may or may not have been a direct descendant, while Han's cousin Thrackan Sal-Solo decided to write his own history and use the Solo name to propel himself to a Corellian dictatorship.
Somehow, I missed divining that out of the first three movies...

Yep it’s been consistently 40/50 minute wait. It becomes walk on the last hour before park close.

We rode it twice in January (only spent a half day at HS) and it was full both times. I want to say wait time was between 45-60 minutes, but it was so long ago I'm not certain.

We've been on it a couple of times recently and there were lines for an hour plus. We had fast passes so our wait was not long. We also noticed last week that it seems they had switched up a few details in the ride's storyline experience compared to our previous visit. I guess that's to keep it fresh and interesting for repeat visitors. So no, I don't think Star Tours is going anywhere anytime soon.

Given the building's proximity to Muppet*Vision 3D....

What I find weird (no pun intended) was that this was the only Henson movie that Disney didn't buy of The Muppets. this film is still own under Columbia TriStar and their hasn't been a re-release under Disney. Yet the other movies up to Treasure Island were bought by Disney.

I’d be all for an Indiana Jones ride but would prefer something more like Dinosaur or the DL ride version than a simulator for that ip. I personally would love a Dr Strange ride theme the facade to the sanctum sanctorum and travel through the multiverse exploring or retrieving an artifact that is stolen but with the universal deal that will never happen. More likely to do a wreck it Ralph internet journey or perhaps a Monsters Inc ride if it even gets changed.

they could retheme it to guardians of the galaxy? change the audio animatronic to rocket raccoon and send us on a 70s music filled cosmic party through space to meet up with the rest of the guardians and along the way we get caught up in a battle between thanos and the nova corps - similar to the star tours idea just the theming and the video would need changing.

Not with a Guardians attraction going to Epcot.

I am not sure of how it is located to the new SWL but couldn't they turn the entrance around like they did Toy Story Mania?

No. The Muppets area sits between the two.

From what I've heard, it will remain in place, and they may find a better way to connect the lands. It's all speculation, but I don't see Disney removing any attractions given the crowds that will descend on Galaxy's Edge.

SW:GE is an immersive in-universe experience. Star Tours is not in-universe. They will not connect the two unless they were going to completely re-do the entirety of Star Tours, but the plan has always been to turn it into a different IP once the huge SW:GE rush dies down. Plus the Falcon attraction is already a simulator. Don't need two sim attractions in one land.

What does this even mean?

SW:GE takes place in the actual Star Wars Galaxy. It is part of the canon. You are in the story. The same story that all of the other Star Wars media takes place in. Meaning everything that is done within SW:GE has to conform to being 'in universe'. Within reason, of course - we're not going to be paying for food in credits (although that would be amazing). All the merch, food, etc is designed as if it was created on Batuu, not as something put into a theme park. If you want generic Star Wars stuff, you'll have to get it outside of SW:GE. You won't find things that say 'Star Wars' inside the land.

Here's a (simplified) exchange from Galactic Nights back in December:

"So, I'm not going to go buy a Star Wars T-shirt from this toydarian?"

"No, you will not buy a Star Wars T-shirt." "The food and beverages, merchandise, all of it, is part of this planet, Batuu. In-universe."

Star Tours on the other hand is just an attraction with scenes from Star Wars. They won't mix the two.

I think the issue is that, with the new Millennium Falcon simulator going in at SW:GE, Star Tours will, more than likely, really show its age and be compared unfavorably to it's new sibling. I can understand the thinking that, though the attraction technology is still viable, it might be better to refit it with another property. The only thing I worry about is that they won't be willing to spend the money in order to do it right; meaning a queue, outside environment, pre-show, and in-vehicle theming that is of the same quality as the current attraction.
