Is Splash Mountain holding up?

Jesus, bet Disneyland fans aren't happy about that... I hope they're giving Disney some venom for that. Definitely would call that close to WDW pre-refurb levels of bad on the riverboat. Micechat needs an article up about that if they don't have one already, guessing they're working on one as that's their video.

How long has it been like that? Wonder if their new president has anything to do with it... That's disgusting, especially since it's apparently been that way for some time.

WDW's is still looking fairly decent so far from youtube videos and seems like any problems occurring are being dealt with fairly soon after they happen. I'm kind of shocked. Of course I don't know when all these videos have been shot, so if there's any info about consistently broken elements after the refurb fixed things then tell me.
More on DL's Splash...

It's looking really bad...

I've never seen the DLR Splash Mountain ride before but it is very, very different from the WDW version. I couldn't tell what all was broken except for ALL THE FREAKIN' CHICKENS IN THE RIVERBOAT SCENE! D: MADNESS!
Yes. They are very different. DL's is nowhere near as good as WDW's but it's still a blast. Shame to see it get so bad with the reputation DL has.
I really never thought I would have to make a list like this for DL's splash, but here it goes.
@ 3:23 - The first figure is hardly moving
@ 3:24 - there is a motionless frog, but you gotta look fast.
@ 3:30 - another motionless goose.
@ 3:38 Br'er Bear not moving up in down in trap.
@ 3:56 Br'er Rabbit's mouth appears to be stuck open
and then all of the motionless figures on the river boat.
I have NO idea what is going on here? DL has had perfect running attractions for YEARS! It almost looks as though things are going back to the way things were pre 2005.

It does go by kind of fast, which coupled with the shakiness of camera work can make it difficult to spot broken elements. Besides the riverboat, the Brer Bear figure caught in his own rope trap looks like it's stationary (I assume it's supposed to move). Probably more too (I thought I saw a frog or two not moving, not sure).

I don't know how well the ride is holding up from a structural and paint perspective (WDW's had damaged rockwork and leaking parts as well as incredibly faded paint and its figures were both non-working AND dirty). But the broken animatronics in Disneyland's version are quickly approaching pre-refurb WDW levels of bad. It's disgusting and in desperate need of attention.

Micechat needs to start posting about this on the front page stories more. I know they uploaded a video about the broken AA's on youtube not long ago, but I don't even know if they posted an article about it. It would be horrible if Disneyland began descending back into the state it was during the Pressler/Harriss days, and the fanbase just allowed it to get that way this time.

That finale on disneyland's is awful. Rode WDW's yesterday and there were a couple of issues but nothing crazy. One of the chickens in the first scene had minimal movement, a possum wasn't moving and some of the water effects in the laughing place were down but that's it.

I rode Splash Mountain at Disneyland 2 days ago and I was so disappointed. Disneyland's Splash Mountain needs to get on the program. I rode Magic Kingdom's version 3 months ago and it was the best I've seen it in years.

just watched teh 1993 version from page 1 and there was def some different stuff. I was there 10 days ago 8/3/13- and it seemed everything was working, but watching the video there were more complex movements 20 years ago. Do we not have the ability to add better movement now - or is is that just that much cheaper to just go up/down, side/side, mouth open/shut.....and average parkgoers don't care/notice. I will say though that the ride actually was pretty good.

I was just on it yesterday and it looked really good. I just think the figures don't move as good as they did in that video because they are about 20 years older today. Running on an average of 14 hours a day for 365 days a year for 21 years, I say they look quite incredible

Well that is indeed somewhat dissapointing.
I will be visiting DL in two weeks and planned on riding this time around, but after learning about the poor state it is in i may just give it a pass now.
I don*t always ride when i visit...have to be in the right state of mind ( not a fan of drops..) but decided to ride this time.
After seeing the currant state, i am having second thoughts.

Does anyone know what this year's refurb for Splash will be for? It still looked really really good when it closed. Granted there were a few things not working, but nit-pickey stuff they could have fixed overnight if they wanted to. I'm really happy Splash is getting so much love after years and years of abuse and neglect.

I saw some wallpaper issues on my last ride through a while ago that I hope they fix, other than that I got nothing. For the most part from what I can see is just construction workers outside of the structure.

If it's this long of a refurb, it probably something non-show related, but I could be wrong.

I also heard here on the forums that they were installing a new water system for the Laughing Place portion of the ride.

The last time I rode was in November and the ride didn't look it's best. All the water effects in the Laughing Place scene were off, some of the frogs in the beginning weren't working, Brer Rabbit was off during the Bee scene, and the Zip A Dee Dooh Da showboat was not rocking. It was still a far better show than before the refurb.

I just watched a video posted on July 5th and I noticed Brer Fox and Rabbit were completely stationary at 5:11 but other than that everything looked great!

I'm a bit late in replying but I just watched the 1993 version then this one. There are a few animatronics that look as good as 8 months in, but some have a very bad movement scale. I think its time just to replace some of them.
