Definately seems to be 'Soarin' over Canada' Huh?

Thats the smaller version of the new airport terminal their building in Quebec! I recognize it anywhere!

Boy, those imagineers think of everything, don't they?

yeah i have said the same thing to other disney fans, the soarin building is really towering over canada and is really ruining the skyline and look of canada. i feel like it is really taking away from the atmosphere that they are trying to create in world showcase. the whole idea that you are in those countries and are immersed in a totally different culture. now when you are in canada you will gaze up into the sky and see a warehouse in the background, i dont really like it too much. in fact it can probably be seen from other angles as well, thus probably messing up the sky line of possibly england as well

If they made the Canada Mountain taller or put a Mountain-like facade on the Soarin' building when they are done, it should look ok...

I am crossing my fingers that they will do that, but I am not holding my breathe. :brick:

You can't have it both ways. You don't build Soarin' and people are upset. You build Soarin' and people are upset. People want new e-attractions and they get them and they are still upset. Why do "we" find fault with EVERYTHING Disney is doing? Can't we just be grateful for a new attraction?

Wow, that definately looks out of place at the moment. But the parks are full of blending so i'm sure once the structure is built and the interior is being finished they'll be blending it to fit in.

Trees

Knowing Disney and their excellent ability to cover up rides and walkways and all that stuff they have something in mind. That dang crane is really obvious. Perhaps if they move the effiel tower over there it would block it? LOL for real I see another mountain in the works or some big trees or something like that!

I don't know what, if anything, they are going to do to hide it...but I hate to see anyone jump to any conclusions yet on what it might look like when it is finished. Sure, right now it is quite obvious. But besides the Swan and Dolphin that can be so easily seen from WS at Epcot, Disney has always done a marvelous job of hiding and disguising things when they have to. We all wanted Soarin' and they are delivering it to us, so I'm not going to complain on its placement quite yet. I'm sure they didn't just throw darts at a map of Epcot to choose the location for it.....I'm sure there is a plan and reason why they built it there and I'm also sure they know it can be seen towering over Canada from across the lagoon.

One thing to notice though, from certain angles, Test Track can easily be seen towering over Mexico and the Imagination Pyramids can easily be seen towering over Canada and the UK pavilion from another angle. I didn't notice them because I never really looked, but after seeing how obvious Soarin' was over Canada, it made me notice. They aren't as bad as Soarin' is right now over Canada....but they do exist. Its funny though....you really have to strain to see the Soarin' show buidling from anywhere inside Future World where the ride really is.

It's HarmonioUS, NOT HarmoniYOU.
Just be happy we are getting a new attraction.... sheesh! :hammer:

How about that invisble paint? You know, the same paint they used on the Switzerland and Russian showcases?

Seriously - yes - something needs to be done. Its not the fact you can see Soarin` behind Canada, its the fact it ruins the forced perspective used on the pavillion. Be sure - if we have noticed it, WDI has to, and if management start hearing guests complaining and realise it wouldn`t cost that much to disguise the building... or am I still living in the TWDC of the 80`s?

I was at Disney just two weeks ago, and though you see those pictures above that shows a "warehouse" behind Canada, upclose you really cannot see Soarin'. It's only when you are across the lake do you see the building.

Okay this thread is extremely ironic!

I live a couple of blocks away from the Chateau Laurier in Ottawa, Canada. The Canada pavillion is based on that chateau architecture (i.e. Chateau Frontenac, Chateau Lake Louise etc.) They are currently building a huge ultra-luxury condo development directly beside the Chateau. The condos completely obscure both the view OF the Chateau and the view FROM the Chateau. Also the Connaught Building (another historic building.)

Not only that, but the blasting on the condos has done fairly serious damage to the Chateau - for which the developers have been forced to pay reparations.

That Epcot Canada skyline is in fact a reality in Ottawa!
