Is parking at another resort OK?

I'm hoping the experts here can give me some feedback on this issue. My family and I will be at AS Movies in less than 2 weeks:sohappy:.

On one of the days, following afternoon nap, our plan is to go to the MK and then go over to Ohana's in Poly for supper. My question is, can we drive and park at Poly, take the monorail to MK and then return to Poly by the monorail? We'd like to hang around there after supper to watch the fireworks at MK that evening.

Thanks in advance.

I'm not 100% sure on this, but I think the parking pass you get at your hotel is only good for that hotel. However, you can take a Disney bus from the parks or DTD to the Poly.

No problem as long as you have your paking pass in your car.

We have been to Disney a few times recently and have had a couple of different experiences. With our parking pass from AS Sports we were able to go in and park at the Contemporary for Chef Mickey's and then hop over to MK with no time limit. On other visits we've been allowed to come in and park, but with the three-hour time limit wdwfan22 mentioned. The times we have received this three-hour pass have been at the Polynesian--even when we were going there for dinner. It seems like the Polynesian especially is really cracking down over the last two years.

Unless you're absolutely dead set on driving, my advice is Disney transport all the way.

Bus from All Stars to MK
Monorail to Poly
dinner
Monorail to MK
Bus home to All Stars from MK

I may be remembering wrong, but isn't there a parking lot by the TTC? which is right by the Poly.... would it be possible to drive to that lot, and use the monorail from there? Somebody with a better memory can clear me up on this if i'm wrong. (if you indeed want to drive)

Wow, responses are all over the place.

I'm wondering if different resorts have different parking rules.

The last two stays at AKL, they gave us a parking pass for any Disney parking lot. We were never told of any limitation of time.

Also, we had friends visit us and had dinner at WL. They had no pass, and parked at WL for the whole night.

But I've heard that Poly is more critical about the parking than other resorts.

But I've done exacly what your saying last October and they never say boo. We arrived in the afternoon, went over to MK, and did O'hanna's at night. Way more than 3 hours, and they just waved us through once they saw the AKL pass on the dash.

Has the rules changed again, or is it based upon who's working the Poly gate that day?

We ate at O'Hana in July and they gave us a special parking pass. I dont remember how long it was for, but we went to MK afterwards so I'm pretty sure we were there more than 3 hrs.

There was no mention of a 3 hour time limit when I went before. I was absolutely sure my parking pass for Coronado Springs was good everywhere on property.

Could this be another refillable mug Disney inconsistency? :brick:

Edit: woohoo! post #100.

I have never had a problem parking at any Disney resort with my Beach Club parking pass... but this discussion has me very nervous of a future reservation. We are arriving Oct 31st, and staying at Universal for 3 nights and then onto Disney Property (if we can get the AP rates!!!). However, we plan to go the Magic Kingdom on the evening of Oct 31st for Mickey's Halloween Party. We made Reservations at Chef Mickey's and planned on parking there, then taking the monarail to the Magic Kingdom. I made it clear when I made the reservations at Chef Mickey's that we were staying off site, and nothing was ever mentioned to me regarding parking. Any thoughts regarding problems with this plan?

3 hr parking passes are the norm at the Polynesian because so many guests try to sneak in that lot rather than paying the 7 dollar parking fee. This being said sometimes security personnel forget to give you the pass and just wave you on through.

Also, at various times during the year, the parking situation at the Contemporary and Polynesian are monitored more than others. For example, during the busy season and special nights like the Halloween and Christmas parties, signs will often be placed at the entrances of those resorts stating....

We regret that we cannot offer parking ........

If you try it and accomplish parking your car then thats great. However, if you are turned away by the guard, remember, you were the one trying to beat the system. The guard is simply doing his job.

Well, there's a TTC parking lot of course, but then there's one that's part of the Poly and just a walk over a hill on the far right...we still are able to sneak over there w/ our resort parking pass - we just tell the guard we're visiting the Poly - no problems for us @ all. We end up going to MK that way every trip.

We stay at the Poly all the time and during our stay right after Thanksgiving my neice who happens to live in Orlando comes with her husband and son to meet us for the Very Merry Christmas Party and dinner. She has never had trouble parking there. They've been very kind. She hasn't had a limit either. But she is upfront with them when she comes.

Thanks everyone for all the great responses.

The main reason I'd like to park at Poly rather than TTC is that our youngest is only 2. I'm sure she'll be crashed by the time we're ready to head back to our room at All-Star Movies. It would make our life much easier I think if we can set her in her car seat.

If the parking attendant is handing out 3 hour passes, I'll point out how cute my daughter is and maybe s/he'll give us a break. :animwink:

Also, I'm hoping the week after labor day is so light on the crowds, parking may not be as much of a concern as it is at other times. I'll just let them know we plan to eat at Ohanas after visiting MK.

Thanks again everyone.

We do this all the time. Just make sure your Resort issued parking pass is in the front window. We are always waved thru security. We have left our car in the lot for hours at a time and never have had a problem.
