Hey all I've got only 10days 'till I'm at the world!!! Now I've been thinking a lot about how since Space is closed that it will increase the waits on other rides a lot. Has anyone been down there lately and noticed a significant increase in other rides waits because of no SM?? Thanks in advance

We were at WDW mid May and I would have to say Space Mountain being closed did not increase wait times on other rides. However, we were there before the Memorial Day and summer crowds hit so things may have changed now.

No change for me in ride times. I actually waited less in May than I expected to because I thought SM being closed would make a difference. It really didn't at all.

If you factor the gph (guests per hour) rate, and then randomly spread that number over the geography of the park, then no, it's not likely to create a noticeable difference. And with FastPass, a large number of riders do not spend their time in the queue and are actually out in the park anyway. So, you'd have to factor the non-FastPass gph, which - if someone wants to do the math - probably places an extra 5 people ahead of you in the queue at any given ride/show.

There are other variables that will have a much greater affect on queue wait times such as the time of day, day of week, proximity to a holiday, weather, and other attraction closures/technical difficulties, etc...

As a CM in the park I'm going to disagree with everyone else. I worked Memorial Day weekend, and the Adventureland/Frontierland side of the park was a mad house, while Tomorrowland was a ghost town. Waits were a little higher than usual, not too bad, but just the shear amount of people on the opposite side of the park was pretty surprising.

I will agree with that. Crowds over around Splash and BTMRR were noticeably bigger. It didn't seem to raise wait times, which is what I was referring to.

I was in MK on May 26 and 29, and Adventureland/Frontierland were madhouses then too!

Maybe all the people that would have been in line and on space mt. decided to not go to MK and WDW during this time. I know I cant be the only one who aint going to WDW because Space is closed.

Three's a Crowd

Wow. Big crowds at the tourist destination capitol of the world ...on Memorial Day weekend? That's really shocking. :brick:
