Is it safe to fly Delta Airlines?

Fly Delta all the time to WDW from Boston. Always go NON-STOP.
I avoid the DIRECT flights because I don't like the layovers a Direct flight makes. (such as Atlanta)
Try to get NON-STOP and you will save time waiting in the intermediate airports.

When I travel I go praying all the time, sometimes crying. I really don´t konw what is wrong, I feel my heart racing madly and when there is turbulance sometimes I feel like I can´t breath.

On my trip to the WDW in november/2007 I was ok onthe fly going there, but from Miami to São Paulo (coming back) I came crying with my DH holding my hand and the flight atendent holding the other one and my DD sleeping on my lap.

After that I have flown inside Brazil, just a little crying but it was ok.

On abril/2009 went to WDW again, this time no crying I was really brave.

Last week we went to the beach (Fortaleza) and I was OK, just a little afraid, but for the next trip we will be flying for +-12 hours to NY, and I am panicing a little.

Believe me, I completely understand. Another thing that helped me was this: I looked at the attendants on the 1st flight this January, and I thought, "Wow, they're all my age or older, and if they've made it this long w/o crashing, then I'll be okay." I know that's silly, but it was one of those things that ran through my mind. I've been lucky so far and not experienced a whole lot of turbulence yet, so that has helped too.

It´s done...we bought our air tickets.
Now it´s in God hands, but I am really exited to go to NY than to Washington, and the best part WDW.

Disneybird, thank you for understanding me. Usually people say that I am silly and other things. We will be leaving january 15.

You are so welcome! I've never been to NY, but I love Washington. Good luck to you and have a wonderful trip.

I used to hate the thought of flying, but finally broke down and flew to Orlando from Syracuse, New York. I made deep impressions in the arm rests that trip. On the return trip I swear I saw I saw the sheet metal on the wing moving during a rain storm and I know I felt the floor in the aisle give when I walked on it getting off. (USAirways mainline carrier to avoid IMO) Despite that I flew again and the next flight was better. My suggestion is to keep flying and over time your fears will go away or at least diminish. I still hate heights but flying no longer bothers me. Hang in there!

Just remember that Delta stands for Delay Everyone's Luggage Through Atlanta. :D

Honestly I find all airlines to be the same (meaning a collective marketing slogan of "we're no worse than anyone else"). That said there are some incredibly good and dedicated people who work for the airlines (thy have to be they are always giving wage concessions).

Remember that Atlanta and the NY area airports are large and can be a bit intimidating to travelers not used to them. Leave yourself pleanty if time to chane planes or get where you are going, especially if you're clearing US Customs & Immigrations at one of these ports of entry.

As for the safety of the flight, historically you're more likely to have a car accident than a plane crash. In 44 years of live I've had 4 car accidents and not even an oxygen mask dropping on a plane (and I have flown through the remants of hurricanes).

Have a great trip...it sounds like alot of fun.

Thanks to all of you. We are leaving this friday and I am very nervous, especially because my DH had to change his flight and will be going on sunday.

Our flight is Brasília to São Paulo then São Paulo to New York (10 hours of flight), later we will get a car and go to Washington. From Washington we´ll get a plane (Airtran) to Orlando...so much flying in my opinion

Delta is fine

I've flown on Delta and they're fine. I'm a very reluctant flier myself, so I empathize. But I last flew with them in March and it was terrific. The staff was friendly and courteous. (Quite an updgrade from my last run-in with USAirways in '05)

You can do it!
