Hey Everyone!

Now that September hours are released I am able to get my planning on!!:sohappy::ROFLOL:
We are going Sept 23-Oct 2. As of right now they are having Fantasmic on two nights: Sunday 9/25 & Thursday 9/29. I have MISSED:( Fantasmic on our last 3 trips!! This trip my mother will be joining us on her FIRST trip to the World so I want to make an effort to see the show.

DO you think it's worth it to do the Fantasmic Dining Package?

Thanks!

If you take into account that you are guarenteed a seat without arriving an hour ahead of time, it is worth it. Especially if you already plan on eating dinner at one of the restaurants at DHS.

Yes!

Yes, yes, yes! It is so much more relaxing to sit and wait as opposed to stand and wait:) Plus choice seating, plus, did I mention, you can sit and wait!!

I think its definately worth doing the dining plan, to avoid an 1 - 1 1/2 hour queue you will have to enter Fantasmic a few hours before the show. When we went in 2008 we entered just before it started and squeezed into the standing area at the back, bad view.

Last year we got the dinner package, ate at Hollywood & Vine, the ticket for your meal also gets you into the theatre without queing. I think it was about $25 per person. Once we ate we showed out ticket, walked right in and got a seat at the allocated section. Excellent.

When we exited the queue for the 2nd show was already extremely rediculously long! Do it please. Fantasmic is amazing.

We always used to do the Fantasmic Package, but this past year we decided to try it w/o the package.
Actually, we were able to walk right into the show before it started.
We did have to stand in the back...but, we could still see well & we didn't mind standing.

We did the pkg on our trip last year. I had never seen Fantasmic before, and our trip was short so I didn't want to waste time waiting in line. We loved the convenience of it, but I wasn't a fan of the seats. We were on the isle as close to center as we could get, close to the top of the reserved section. The view was fine for most of the show, but the floats passing didn't always match up with the music because of the angle. Definitely worth doing though!

I thought it was a waste. The seats sucked and we still had to wait in a line. Granted, it's shorter than the regular one, but it's a line nonetheless. We don't bother with Fantasmic anymore. Much too long of a wait, and the atmosphere is that of a baseball game - "COLD BEER HERE. HOT DOGS, COLD SODA HERE."

There is no extra charge for the Fantasmic Dinner Package. If you are going to eat a table-service meal anyway, then the FDP costs you nothing.

The advantage to it is that you are guaranteed a seat as long as you arrive no later than 45 minutes before showtime. Crowds at Fantasmic vary. Not including the FDP, you can have people queueing up 2 HOURS before showtime and have standing-room-only at the one hour mark, and you can also occasionally walk in 5 minutes before the show and get a seat. There is wide variation.

If you really really want to make sure you see it, then you should reserve the FDP, or else resign yoursaelf to getting in line 2 hours before showtime. This might not be necessary, but if it IS necessary and you show up too late then you won't get in. Better safe than sorry.

When I went last March, I headed over to Fantasmic (I never miss it because its the best show in all of Disney) only about 20 minutes before show time and got a great seat.

Thanks for all the Replies!!

Hey everyone...thanks for all the replies!:D

I've come to the conclusion that I'm going to try to get Fantasmic reservations. We've ended up missing :( Fantasmic on our last 3 trips due to the fact that I just couldn't make myself wait in line for 2 hours. I know there's always the chance that I may get good seat at the last minute but I don't want to take that chance.

We're going to go for Mama Melrose's....can't go wrong with Italian food.

Has anyone been there?

Thanks:sohappy::sohappy::sohappy:

I see you're from New York. Is that city or state? It may matter in how I answer your question.

Mama Melrose's is just fine, I have nothing bad to say about it. But if you're from NYC or thereabouts and you know good Italian food, then you won't be super-impressed by Mama Melrose's. It's Disney's version of a Brooklyn or Lower East Side family-owned Italian restaurant.

Don't expect your neighborhood trattoria. Think maybe a slight cut above Olive Garden; I do NOT mean that as a compliment.

It's not "bad," but for anyone who knows east coast urban Italian family-owned places, it won't be memorable.

All this being said, I think it's your best of the three options for the FDP. I don't carfe to pay Brown Derby prices, and I usually don't care for buffets in general.

Hey!

Yeah we're from Queens, NY. My husband is part italian and we've had some really great Italian meals in and around the city. I really wasn't planning on having any TS meal in DHS unless I had too (they don't have the best food)...but I really want to see Fantasmic without waiting so long...and like you said I'm not willing to use 2 pts on The Brown Derby & we don't mind buffet so much, but my son is not a huge fan of the Characters at Hollywood & Vine...so that leaves us with Mama Melrose's. I'm willing to use one point here...I know i'm not going to have the best meal...but I know it could it be worse...Sci Fi anyone :lookaroun

Thanks for the help!!!

We've eaten at Mama Melrose a few times, and we are from New York and my husbands half italian. That being said, its not a bad restaurant. There are things we just wont order but thats because we are used to a different way of preparing BUT we certainly do enjoy going to Mama Melrose. We booked it for this August for Fantasmic also since there is no way I will wait in line two hours and we will ahve my cousins boys with us 1 and 2 years old. Dinner package well worth it!
