Is Disneyland Different Enough...

I've been on the walks. It isn't much different than the ones at most zoos. San Diego's zoo has better trails and doesn't have the terrible weather. Flights of wonder is no different from any other bird show. The Lion King is just the old Disneyland parade in a wearhouse. I'm not much into kids puppet shows that recap a movie I've seen dozens of times. EE might be a fun coaster but at least Matterhorn's Harold actually moves. Sorry but DAK is just a well themed half day zoo with a few rides.
2 sides to every coin I guess. I love the park and you dont

Did you do the walk throughs? They are incredibly themed and have soooo many animals. Also Flights of Wonder, the Nemo show and the Lion King show are great. EE is better than matterhorn. Plus the live entertainment is a ton of fun.
I did the trails that were open. A few exhibits were closed and the Tree of Life trails were all blocked. Nemo was okay, not mind bowing. Lion King was terrible. Old parade floats in an unthemed warehouse. Everest is good, but at least the Matterhorn has working effects. EE is ambitious, but the ride is choppy in short bursts. I rode it about 4 times since it was a walk on. Its fun, but I still prefer Disneyland's Big Thunder to it.

DAK is the best park in Orlando. Ya'll are doing it wrong clearly.

The prettiest, but it was certainly a half day park when I visited last summer. Still more to do than Disney Studios, but Epcot and MK certainly gave me my money's worth.

If they'd only redo KRR and Dinorama and add another attraction to Africa, they'd have a pretty strong park.

I'm also just amazed at how little there is to do at Orlando parks in general. I remember doing both Universal parks in a day easily and couldn't believe we had an entire second day to kill.

a lot has changed since last summer. Pandora, Tiffans, ROL, Nightime Safari, Alive with Magic, the bands at night, enjoying an adult beverage while enjoying the sights around the park after dark is my new fav as well as riding EE in the dark!

I would agree that until recently it's been a half-day park, but I am pretty pumped to check it out in a few months and see all the new stuff and hopefully see it after sunset. The park really is stunning and transports you like nowhere else on property does. There are some seriously jaw dropping views throughout the park, it's a great place to just walk around and get lost in. People often lose sight of this and are so focused on specific attractions, attraction counts, etc. People forget that these are theme 'parks.' We're not just paying to go on rides, we're paying to have unique experiences with unique surroundings as well. Of course that doesn't cut it when what's inside is very shallow as DAK 1.0 kind of was, but they've done a good job at slowly building it up thru now. I do wish it wasn't so freaking HOT there though haha.

I think that the vast majority of people disagree with you guys about DAK and WDW in general. That's why it continues to be the number ONE vacation destination on Earth and not Disneyland. 3/4 parks are amazing. And the fourth will be amazing in a couple years when construction is complete.

Thank goodness the east coast doesn't known about Disneyland. It would hit capacity every day.

Well, WDW is not the number one vacation destination on earth...

So we have New York, Washington DC and Las Vegas at the top.

And Disneyland gets 50% more visitors than DAK. (In 2016, DL = 14,730,000 vs DAK = 9,100,000)

WDW is most likely NOT the most visited/number one vacation on the planet. No. And honestly, I don’t think any of my fellow Disneylanders care about attendance numbers. Probably same for WDW fans in general.

I should have clarified in my post. What I meant was Resort as in collection of tourist attractions. Anyways no point in arguing with a Disneylander about which resort is better. They're both amazing! And we all know WDW is better as a resort and DL is better than MK. That's the trade off. DL is the best American theme park, 2nd to Tokyo Disney Sea if you ask me.

Edit: DAK has the best overall theming though

I'm not a 'Disneylander' but...

This is in the park you're saying has the best overall theme.

Can't give it the nod until they remove/replace this roadside atrocity from an otherwise pristine park.

That's cherry picking at its finest. Don't forget DL has ToonTown
Lol not only would I take ToonTown over Dino Rama any day, but I was never making the argument that DL was the best themed. So, what are you talking about?

TDS gets that nod for me, followed by DAK ...which can jump ahead if they do something substantial with Dinoland, shifting it to a more naturalistic time piece land set on Pangaea (to parallel Pandora) rather than the research lab and a random Nemo show.

one thing i really enjoy about DAK that i don't see credited often, is that the ride systems on the majors vary widely and compliment each other quite well. now, we could debate the quality of each, but FOP, NRJ, KS, KRR, EE, and DINO are all fundamentally completely different ride experiences. could maybe even throw PW in there, but i won't - because it and the area it's in, are crap.

i also agree that TDS and DAK are the best 'themed' parks in the world... including the castle parks brings up the whole argument of whether or not they could be considered to be themed to themselves o_O

Personally, I don't get why many say Animal Kingdom has the best theming of any American Disney park. I can see that with TDS or Disneyland. Kali River Rapids is a crappy themed ride, Dinorama sucks, and the park has a very "zoo" vibe with the lush vegetation. Africa just has a bunch of dilapidated buildings and Pandora has very fake looking plants spread throughout the land.
