Not enough land??????????????? You have to be kidding me!

Just look at what Universal did with their TINY amount of land. They built Citywalk, Islands of Aventure, and the biggest parking structure IN THE WORLD.

Heck, they could just get rid of the Magic Kingdom Parking Lot & Racetrack, put in a massive garage, and drop a park right there. Easy. Don't even have to extend the monorail to get there :D.

But let's be honest: they are not going to open a new park in the next year, or the next ten.

If anything, Disney would probably just buy Universal and SeaWorld (which will soon be owned by the same stakeholder).

The rule of thumb they always say in tours and orientation is that 1/3 the land is still available for development. So basically doubling what's already there.

I remember the last time I was on BLT at DHS the tour guide said that Disney had enough room to build 3 more parks. Obviously not that they were GOING to, but it was just to relate to the average visitor just how much land Disney owned. But I did have hopes that at least a 5th gate would be built by 2020. But now I'm not so sure. DAK desperately needs BK or MI... or whatever is floating around. MK needed this FL expansion. DHS even though getting TSM and soon ST2 needs an expansion of some kind (Incredibles Land please!). And Epcot could use a new country, JII redone, something done with WoL... maybe a couple more rides in WS. I dunno. I know it's all a big long ongoing process in the Florida Project, but I think things are finally starting to swing WDW's way. But a 5th park anytime soon? Nope.

I want to see DHS and DAK expanded before they even think about a fifth park. Bring those both up to "2-day parks" like MK and Epcot and then maybe we'll be ready for a fifth park.

Although i think if (hopefully when) they become 2 days parks, they will have such a capacity that there will be no need for a 5th park for a very very very long time.

Well, you guys say they don't need a new park... but I'd love a new one :)

The odds of them buying out Sea World or Universal make me laugh SO hard. First off, this is so impractical. Second off, Sea World is so far away from Disney quality (imo) that it'd be a waste of money and impractical.

I think all of us would love the 5th park if we got one, but what I, and a lot of others, are saying is we don't need one at the moment. DAK and DHS obviously need some more substance before another park should be considered. At one time I was all aboard for a 5th park, until I started coming here and reading some of the legit reasons why Disney should wait. I've seen the light! :p

"The Blessing of Land" 1979 vs 2009 Sat-pics
I thought it might be interesting to look at how the WDW property has changed over the years and discuss the decisions that have been made regarding the master plan.

First, I created this rough satellite image of 1979 WDW & Surrounds. The red border represents the land purchased by Disney for the Florida Project. Back then WDW was in the sticks, filled with and surrounded by woodlands, cattle pastures, wetlands and citrus groves. In 1979, WDW had one park and handful of hotels (Epcot Center was under construction, so I included it) but most of the property and surrounds remained undeveloped.

Fast forward 30 years to 2009. Development inside and outside the property has been rapacious. Disney has added some real estate to their Florida holdings (not shown), but also sold off massive chunks (outlined in purple), including Celebration, Four Seasons, and Flamingo Crossing. The Orlando region's population explodes to more than 2 million, helping to service nearly 50 million visitors a year.

Whereas, Walt Disney once championed the "blessing of size" of his Florida project and how he had all the land he would ever need, these pics sadly show how WDW will, in 10-20 years time, be hemmed in on all sides by suburban sprawl, and has already sold off its biggest chunk of undeveloped land (Celebration around 35-40% of the property).
Based on the map I think there is room for 2-5 more EPCOT sized parks.

Celebration was not 'sold off'. It was de-annexed. They still own the property.
Really? I thought it was purchased?

To the bolded: What an accomplishment! It really enhances the experience!

(I found it to be the worst part.)

I would rather see a 3rd gate in DL.

I do not think there is enough room.

Thanks for the map!

That makes things too cramped. Besides the fact that the plot look too small.

I DO like the peoplemover.

WDW Resort Transport:Monorail
WDW Transportation Attraction: Peoplemover

DL Resort Transport:peoplemover
DL Resort Transport Attraction: Monorail

Makes sense as WDW is larger...
