Is attendance really down at WDW this or…

“Look at this picture I took at 8:55am on Main Street!!! VERIFIABLE PROOF that the parks are mobbed, everything is great!!!”

The mental gymnastics needed to even pursue this discourse are beyond me.

Lies!! Didn’t you read the other posts?!?! It’s mobbed!! No dining available. Possible phased closures coming if this keeps up.

Looks like they’re managing to fill them up though. We walked past San Angel, Les Chefs and Spice Road last night and they were very full. Biergarten was packed and lively. No availability Hacienda.

Oh and AK is pretty busy today. 55 minutes for the Safari, 70 for FOP and 45 for Navi. It’s hard to believe these people are all from New Jersey.

We’ll be at Boma tonight so I’ll see how busy it is.

It could be attendance is down AND wait times are up due to the failed Lighting Lane system.

I was thinking about this -

If you look at it from the guest standpoint Lighting Lane is a failure.

If you look at it from Disney's standpoint, Lighting Lane is a HUGE SUCCESS and the long wait times are only a "happy coincidence" that will result in SELLING MORE LLMPs, LLSPs, LLPPs!!!

I just looked at MDE. No ride at AK is more than 45 minutes (FoP). 40 for Navi, 30 for the Safari, 15 for Everest, 10 for Dinosaur.

In other words... another average, ordinary, nothing-special, not-mobbed day.
I’m sure that’s true now but the times I posted were from the morning.

Like, when people rope-drop Flight of Passage and the Safari? Color me shocked. It's like saying DHS is mobbed because Slinky Dog and RnRC and Rise are 80 minutes at 9:15am.
We got to Safari at 9:30 and Navi at around 11:00. FOP was close to 1:00. We had LLs so I’m sure of the times.

The Lion King show was also full.

This is such a weird thread to be in. It's over a YEAR after this thing started. The CEO of the company straight SAID attendance was down in two of the quarters at least. Is it down now compared to when this thread started? I don't know (though Jersey week is just something I don't know about at all, though it's nothing new either, I've heard about it for years). It's absolutely hilarious this thread is still a debate. Attendance was ABSOLUTELY down in the summer of 2023. It is still way off the 2019 levels as of 2023 (despite wait times being up from 2019, figure that one out). It very possibly could be up from 2023 this year. But restaurants and hotels are nowhere near as packed (you do not need your 60 days out reservations anymore). I guess my restaurant/hotel stuff is based objectively on just randomly looking for reservations and listening to the people here who are travel agents, but the attendance being down in the summer of 2023, and still way down from 2019 are facts.

I don’t doubt the fact that attendance is down. But as another poster said, it’s probably not down enough for people in the parks to notice. Even with attendance down, the parks are very busy.

These parks are not “empty.” At most, fewer people in the parks are making them more manageable. ADRs are more difficult to manage with LLMP/LLSP. Maybe the result is that people will be able to pick them up on the fly and fit them in between rides.

Let me start by saying, I believe you.

Having slots available is not the same as empty. That's why I tried to post factual information about what is available. Even on slow days, WDW still feeds lots of people!

I imagine most WDW dining locations are busy enough to look busy at peak dining times, but maybe not full at off-times like 4pm.

I'm also inclined to think most people also choose in-park, World Showcase dining locations over remote locations like Olivia's.

How much is the not empty feeling of the park due to things like staffing also being down, though, and rides not being run at full capacity? It's not in Disney's interest for the parks to feel empty - especially with paid LLs.

I thought Len debunked the claim of rides not being run at full capacity.

That’s always been true though.

According to the data, compared to 2019, MK is down 18%, AK down 37%, DHS down 10.3%, and Epcot is down 3.73%. Overall for the year, that's just under 18%. For reference, on average in 2019 DAK had 38,000 visitors a day. They are down 14,000 in 2023. MK is down over 10,000. On average, the parks as a whole are down 29,000 visitors a day from 2019 levels. I agree they don't feel empty, but at least with 2023 data (the most recent we have), they are significantly down from 2019.

Attendance is down but standby waits are up, the parks feel more crowded because of the failed LL system.
