Florida Yes. Spent a week on International Drive last year and going to Busch Gardens & NASA this year.

Disney No.
Ah the stretch of I-Drive where one half is Little Brazil/UK where a number of intentional guests stay on a budget , numerous discount outlet shopping and interesting delish cuisine and the other half where is convention central with many chain dining options and a few upscale lodging.I find bargains in those outlets when visiting where some that I saw shopping buying in bulk only to resell in their home countries.

Nothing stranger than the Canada Goose store selling articwear jackets in a semi tropical climate and they fly out the door!

Azores car scam?? That's why you take a picture of the entire car upon pick up. I do the same thing in the states and have full car coverage courtesy on my Visa card.

Cancun - enough to do on resort so no need to venture into areas where one may be drugged, robbed or even killed.

I'm headed to Isla Mujeres in two weeks. This will be our first time there. I'm more concerned with the price gouging of renting broken down golf carts on the island (Roughly $700 for 7 days). Kinda seems like a WDW dilemma - if people would simply stop paying the ridiculous prices, they might come down to reasonable levels.

Who said that? Can you quote the post?
I'm confused too. If I'm right in assuming that I'm the poster being alluded to, my point was the very opposite: people should give advice to first-time visitors. It's the helpful thing to do. Apart from those of us who've stopped visiting altogether, we're all in a position to impart something to newbies that will help them make the most of their time.

Many longtime visitors are so disappointed with how WDW has changed that they doubt anyone can have a great time there now. That’s not my experience, but I don’t question that it’s theirs.

First-time visitors don’t have a basis of comparison. The one thing I would stress is the cost; Disney is off the charts with prices these days. But if people understand this and are willing to accept the cost, it’s their choice.

As far as complexity, I find Genie+ far more annoying than complicated. My son was willing to handle ride reservations for the entire family and didn’t mind it at all. If you have someone in your party willing to take on that responsibility it makes things much easier.

My primary advice would be to have realistic expectations of how much can be comfortably done each day. There’s a lot more to do at WDW than go on rides.

While I believe everyone on this thread that room bookings are way down, we went ahead and formally booked today for our early December visit.
The deluxe hotels were starting to have only the expensive rooms left, the cheaper rooms/view were gone. Made me a bit nervous, so we booked now. And it can't be free dining, there is none our week.

So we just saw, Florida breaks all-time tourism record for 2023, and the single quarter record for Q1 2024. And as @pigglewiggle states, checking now, the cheaper rooms are going fast for December.

It makes you think the "bookings are down" messaging, is purposely placed misinformation to make folks think, "Hey, bookings are down, lets go now when its not MOBBED"

Fake news is everywhere...

In fairness to myself, I did not see that article before making the decision to book today. 😄
We always knew we were going, just hadn't made the commitment, until today.

Not all the millions go to parks and resorts. Many places to visit in FL including second homes, visit family and friends and snowbirds.

I was not implying you got hooked by the”booking are down” fake news, it’s clear you were going.

I wanted to use your example of booking your room and the recent article, as evidence that the “bookings are down” messaging is fake news to; 1 get folks to book, 2 give Iger an excuse not to invest in WDW.

Part of me kind of wants to believe this lol

Last year we saw this messaging throughout the summer and then in October just a massive wave of folks showed up at the parks and it didn't really die down until after Easter.

+Orlando (and all of Florida) is benefitting from the cruising industry doing well

Ports of Tampa , Miami , Cape Canaveral hotels, lodging , small businesses etc, in areas all benefit from the thousands of cruise passengers every week supporting them.
