Is attendance really down at WDW this or…

In regards to Epic, The quickest thing they could do would be to get these parks back to circa 2000 entertainment. Get shiny new day parades in at least in two parks, night parades, get the Studios new shows all across the board, invest in World Showcase and "Future World" entertainment again, something of substance for AK, it goes on and on. HEA and Fantasmic are steps in the right direction! Let's keep going! Sometimes a few Streetmosphere actors can be more enjoyable than a new land. I'd take them over Batuu any day.
None of this will draw in new guests and is not very marketable.

While I hope that one day entertainment will return, Batuu or any new land have a far better ROI for Disney

Even if Disney broke ground today on new lands, none if it would be ready even close to Epic's opening time frame. I'd guess it would take at least two years after Epic's opening. Entertainment is the only viable solution to draw people in for the next several years.
They have pre-existing buildings with no attractions inside and multiple existing lands and attractions in need of a refresh. They don’t necessarily have to break ground to have at least moderately exciting things on the near-term horizon.

While true they also have to announce something new coming. All we got is a water walkthrough and an overlay coming

It really doesn't matter how much leg work is already done with Disney. Whatever they do, it will take years to complete. They are embarrassingly slow.

Seeing hours for AK still at 7pm closing come next Saturday vs the 8pm in 2022 and MK still at 10pm closing vs 11pm, they don't seem confident crowds will be close to last year.

That’s intentional

They do ridiculous timeframes to lessen the overall investment cost…dilute it out over time…and pump things as “coming” or “new” for far too long.

When someone continually tells you what and who the are: believe them.

It’s a shell game.

Blue ocean crap.

I was responding to the sentiment that new entertainment was their only hope. My point is that if they were actually feeling meaningful pressure to do something with a very quick turnaround, there are plenty of opportunities to do so outside of that domain.

Entertainment and discounts are their best options… free dining, 30% off resorts, buy a day get a day… lots of ways to encourage people to come.

Non are ideal for maximizing profits but Disney has a lot of ways of filling rooms and selling tickets.

It’s a matter of philosophy and reduced capability due to a decline in WDI skill.

The literally cannot and will not build anything in a rush.

Who let you see iger’s top secret recession playbook?!?🤔

My theory….and it’s been repeated a “few” times for 10 years…is that they’ll no longer be able to offer big enough discount percentages to get people there in high enough numbers…if things go to a traditional recession.

Wash, rinse, repeat… I think we’ve taken advantage of it (or fallen for it) 2 or 3 times already over the last decade.

I know for sure we got free dining one year and I’m pretty sure we’ve used the room discounts twice.

Our Universal APs expire in January, if Disney offers Nov/Dec room discounts we’ll probably make another trip and take advantage of it.

Well in the housing crash 30-40% worked

But remember they raised the prices during those Discounts. Then after…his leash holders were told there there were no limits…because he bought IP and put $1B of wifi into wdw…

No problems.

Im guessing it’s gonna take 50%+ the next go around. Cause the mass market they need - conclusively explained by the discount dump they’ve already done this year outta desperation - really doesn’t make more now…or ever did…since 1968. Stats are our friends.

But I love to be proven wrong. Unfortunately for Dusters I’m on a real heater this year. 🔥

What happens if parks can no longer provide the cash to cover theatrical and D+ losses?

I'm still not convinced they could even do that. About the only thing they can do quick is a meet and greet with plywood theming. There's almost no chance even a minor themed restaurant gets built, even in an existing building, in less than 2yrs. Lol
