Is anyone else dissapointed by lack of AiW?

I've always been hoping that they would bring over the DLR ride of AiW, and with this fantasyland expansion, it just seems too perfect. Have your kid sit down and have tea with the march hare (well not only kids, I'd so do it).

Or would that idea be bad considering that they already have a tea cup ride? or they could re-theme that area, gah its dissapointing, Alice has always been my favorite.

ACTUALLY, how about leading the little kids through her adventures in wonderland? It would be like an interactive experience, you could have multiple Alice's touring kids at a time to keep the wait short, and you could meet the Mad Hatter, The Caterpillar, and have to escape the queen!

I agree the Alice ride from DL and/or the Alice hedge maze from DL Paris would be a MUCH better fit for the new FL expansion. A small Pixie Hollow meet and greet like the one currently at DL is the better route. But Wonderland is a much better property to devote real estate too, not Pixie Hollow.

I wish they would scrap Pixie Hollow and add Wonderland instead, but, alas, it isn't going to happen...

Simple solution. Add Dumbo between MSUSA and Tomorrowland (currently a parking lot) and then there would be plenty of room for PH and Alice as part of the FLE.

I really think the Dumbo mini-land would be tremendous as a traveling circus/carnival set up just off Main Street. It wouldn't be overly intrusive and would add great energy to the area.

The hedge maze seems like it would be perfect in the new landscaping.

Im sure the marketing department/planners of this fantasyland change are probably kicking themselves right about now. Alice In Wonderland is once again #1 in theaters this week beating the new Matt Damon movie Green Zone. It has already made double its production budget worldwide. The wonderland mythos has always been very popular with my age group (Millenials) and im sure young kids today enjoy it equally.

I hope they change their minds about Phase 2 and make it Wonderland oriented.

Yea instead we get the failing Pixie franchise :brick:

Still waiting for proof of this rumor. Last I checked the second DVD has made more than the first while selling a few less units. But it's early yet.

Now I'm with you that Wonderland is the way to go. But it's Dumbo that needs to go not PH.

IMO.

Nope Dumbo is by far the one of the most if not the most popular ride in WDW doubleing the capacity is really one of the few major plusses of the whole FLE imo.

I didn't mean Dumbo needs to go altogether. It just needs to go to Main Street or DHS. Besides it really doesn't 'mesh' well with the rest of the FLE. Whereas PH and Alice most certainly do.

Dumbo would be great, somewhere else. IMO.

JT we hardly agree but this is ridiculous. Dumbo is an MK staple it doesn't make sense anywhere else. Even though MS is in MK is shouldn't go anywhere besides FL. Besides the fact that people expect Dumbo in MK Dumbo is not in Fantasy Forest it is its own Sub land like POTC and Caribbean plaza in AL.

I'm with everyone that something should replace Pixie Hollow, Alice might work with the Teacups nearby and would likely be more exciting.

The tough part would be balancing the classic animated film and the new one. No matter how they planned it, people would complain it either included too much classic, or too little. There's still time for them to figure it out though.

I think the answer to that is easy just include the classic it is what most people associate with AIWL.

Just to remind folks who may not have been to Disneyland, but the Alice In Wonderland dark ride is from 1958 and based strictly on the 1951 animated movie that Walt did.

The ride has a nifty outdoor section of track "down the vine" and outdoor load/unload, and was updated in 1983/4 in Phase Two of the big New Fantasyland project at Disneyland (yes, there was a Phase Two to that huge project), and the ride just got some nifty digital effects a couple years ago and plenty of TLC from Disneyland Maintenance, but...

The Alice ride at Disneyland has nothing to do with the current movie. It has a look and feel that most current Alice In Wonderland fans wouldn't even recognize. It's going to take a lot of Imagineering to make a family friendly dark ride based on the current Alice movie.

Yeah, because none of them have ever seen the Disney version. :lookaroun

I'm not sure how high WDI's level of interest actually is in the current version of "Alice"; none of the new "Burton" inventions in the movie are better than Lewis Carroll's imagination or even the Disney animated film. Honestly, after growing up with Disney's hilarious Tweedle Dee/Dum and vowel-smoking caterpillar, the Burton versions were disappointing.

Although I very much enjoyed the new "Alice" movie, it has no place in the parks. Pixie Hollow should be scrapped in favor of Wonderland, but the original version. I'm sure that with the success of Tim Burton's movie there will be a renewed interest in Walt Disney's.

It would be great if they could take elements from both. I'm not a huge fan of Johnny Depp in POTC, but something similar to the updated POTC might work for Alice. The DLR is amazing! I would really hate for it to be changed too much.

It would just be awesome if they added Wonderland! Alice is way cooler than the Pixies.
