Is a disney cruise worth it?

It's my 18th in June and I doubt my parents will organise anything for it so I'm looking at going to Disney for my birthday or just after it. I looked at a disney cruise and for a 5 night cruise it's £1,400-ish which seems quite expensive and I was thinking I could go to Orlando for a 2 week holiday for around that much.

So I was wondering if it was worth it to go for the 5 night cruise?

I'm not a big cruise person, so it wouldn't be worth it to me. But others enjoy having all of their meals paid for, and cruise amenities. I would just rather walk around WDW than a ship, and the port stops are so "timed" (and everything seems to cost extra at highly inflated prices) that I don't enjoy them.

But there are people who absolutely love them. I think I would try a shorter, less expensive cruise first, just to see if you like it. Or save it for a time where the cruise is secondary (like your honeymoon) so you aren't as dependent upon the provided diversions, and have better things to do. ;)

I love the cruises. I've got another trip report started from one last week, Master Yoda does too.

Do remember that that cost includes all your meals and then some. It can be expensive, but it's always worth it to me.

We've done a five night before and it was a good amount of time. We just did a three night and it was too short!! Awesome! Too short!!

Worth it? Depends...

I enjoy going on cruises and without a doubt find the Disney experience to be the best... But you do pay for the experience.

I will cruise Disney again and want to try out the new ship some time.

A Disney cruise is not the same experience as a park visit. I enjoy both but one cannot replace the other.

I seem to be on a rotation of four years of park trips to one cruise. :p

This is mainly due to the high cost of cruising. If money was not a factor I would do both every year. :)

Is it worth it....IMO yes, is it expensive....yes, but where else can you go on a ship in the atlantic ocean and have Capt Jack Sparrow rapell from the funnel and sword fight along with the explosions of fireworks. We would love to take one every year but its just too expensive. We did a 3 night on the Wonder in 08 and really enjoyed it but it was too short. When it was all said and done we really dont feel like we saw the ship. By the time we got on the ship from the bahamas and Castaway Cay, along with the dinners, shows, and deck partys we never even did alot of the ships activities. This summer we are taking a 4 night on the Dream.

"Worth it" is very subjective, but I'd say yes.

I've only done two cruises, one non-Disney on my honeymoon in '92 and on the Magic in '04 as part of a Land & Sea package.

I found the Disney cruise great! You have near constant availability of food and enough organized activities that you can be as busy or laid-back as you like. It is expensive, but given that it's all-inclusive [except booze], it's not ridiculously so.

I guess it is worth it to me, did a 4 night four years ago and going again this October for 7 nights. The best part for me was the on board Disney quality shows every evening, they made the price I paid well worth the additional cost of going on a different line. I also loved the way the dining was so that you did not eat in the same place every evening. The wait staff moved with you so you got to know them and they got to know what you liked.
