ipods at Disney

I'm in my mid 30's, and go to the parks alone alot of the time and always take my iPod Shuffle, it makes time go by quicker when waiting for both rides, and shows, not to mention blocking out both screaming kids, and adults.

And the music on the iPod helps to calm, and relax me, as I suffer from panic attacks due to a couple of mini seizures I've had in the last few years, as well as other times in my life too.

Believe it or not, I'm into Disney's in park music loops(I love almost all of the classic music in the attractions, and shows themselves), and would rather be rockin out, or listening to what I want to listen to when walking around or waiting in the parks when I'm not there with a friend.

Would any of you recomend bringing your ipod, or other mp3 player with you to the park? Or is this not necessary, and would just be another thing to carry?

I think it mainly depends on who you're traveling with. I can understand kids traveling with families, who aren't allowed to split up from the brood, wanting to listen to their own music as a means of faux-privacy. But I only travel with my GF currently, and I know that, if I were to be in WDW with her, and she decided she'd rather listen to her MP3 player than experience things with me, I'd be offended.

Maybe I'd bring my MP3 player if I also brought an extra pair of heapdhones so we can listen together. I'd pre-record special songs or even pre-record silly messages only she could hear. Like "Check that guy out, nice beard, ZZ Top Boy." Then I'd wait until I saw a guy with a disgusting beard, and put that track on. I'd record a couple of dozen sarcastic comments like that, along with "I love you, magoo" messages, and play them whenever she needed to hear them. Of course, I COULD just tell her these things, too, but it'd be funnier to make that effort beforehand. It's like when your friend tells you something shocking and then you go out of your way to get something to drink so you can THEN do a spit-take and say "You did WHAT?"

My MP3 player is a Lyra, which also records video. So I could also throw Disney stuff on the screen while waiting for certain rides if the lines are long. We could watch POTC:CotBP while waiting on line for the ride. We could watch Song of the South while waiting for Splash Mountain! Episodes of the Twilight Zone while waiting for ToT (or, you know, the ToT movie, if we're REALLY bored). And we could probably watch all of Fantasia in the time it takes to wait for Fantasmic.

I bring my non-iPod MP3 player all the time, but I don't ever play music with it (except when driving)

Instead, I bring a mike and use it to record stuff. =)

We did something similar with a stuffed Tiger doll last year. I had even made a little vest with a Mickey sillhouette on the back. We got pictures with characters, random places arond the park, and if we encountered a really nice cast member, we'd have them hold the tiger for a picture. I meant to post these pictures online some where, but never got around to it. They turned out rather cute, and seeing this now reminded me of that. :p

The pictures on that site were amusing, even if I'm not an iPod owner.

Edit: The MP3 player I do have stays locked up in the room - I'm too afraid it'll get water logged in the rain, or on one of the rides.

I like the one with Cinderella Castle in the background, and the ipod is playing "When You Wish Upon A Star"

Well, thank you! That (and the one before it of the pink mini) are my shots.

Before anyone jumps all over me for taking an ipod to the parks you should know that I specifically took them to take these pics for the ipodlounge site. :)

Ipod

I won a Ipod shuffle at MGM the last time I was at WDW! $8.00 in the lighthouse game and I won! The way I see it, it only cost me the tax! it was the arcade at pizza planet. Very cool prize indeed!! Now I have a 40 gig and a Shuffle, my bro-in-law could not believe I could win sch a prize.
