Man, you guys are crazy buying expensive accesories for your iPhones/iPods.

My motto: "If it isn't shipped from Hong Kong, it isn't worth having!"

Seriously, check out: www.dealextreme.com Everything is really cheap, and protects just as well as the expensive iFrogz cases.

I made a thread a few weeks ago about Disney apps, and the creator of the Hidden Mickey one posted in the thread. Looks like I forgot to respond to request more info. Whoops.

Don't forget to get the Bolt "Rhinoball" free app. I prefer it to Super Monkey Ball!
If you search the Apple store for "hidden mickey" you'll find the Notescasts "WDW Secrets" app for iPod Touch and iPhone. It's $1.99, I just downloaded it myself, so a review will have to wait...

I have the apps, and they are cool but definitely still feel like a beta project. They would probably be even better if the stupid batteries would last through a whole day.

Lame. They sell hidden mickey books. So now you have 4, maybe 6 park maps on you, and a thick 200 page hidden mickey book. Why would you want to be able to just access that on your small little iPhone?

Yeah keep me updated on that new app!

Quick update, it has a lot of information on WDW broken down into a progressive "tour" of each park. There are a handful of hidden mickeys included, but the hidden mickey's app is shown as coming soon. The WDW Secrets app is based on Disney publications' "Guidlines for Guidebook Media" - on a cursory first look there were a few tidbits I wasn't aware of, but much that I was. That said, the tour format is really interesting and I'll be giving it a try in August.

The app is broken down into "chapters":

  • Welcome
  • Begin - Magic Kingdom Secrets Tour
  • Disney's Animal Kingdom Secrets Tour
  • Disney's Hollywood Studios Secrets Tour
  • Epcot Secrets Tour
  • Walt Disney World Fun Facts
  • What are Hidden Mickey's
  • More Disney Notecast Titles
  • Notecast Information
  • Register Your Notecast
The app is not as comprehensive as its iPod equivalent, but hopefully that will be corrected through updates. There is a fair amount of detail in the app already, but there are currently no links to photos and the iPod version appears to contain a lot more.

I still haven't read through everything...

Sounds good Monty, and Tim a car charger is KEY with this phone. I put about 4-5 hours of use on my phone a day being ipod, internet, email...thats not counting calls and texts. I NEVER run out of battery cause I charge it at any chance I get.

I'm looking at the various battery re-chargers/extenders. I've run out of charge in airports, where it's hard to find a plug. The best one I've seen won't work for me because it creates a partial case for the iPhone, which means the case I have won't fit and the top end of the phone won't be protected... I'm a klutz, have dropped the phone three or four times. Not having the phone protected would be a problem.

The option of a separate battery booster is probably my best option, but carrying one more 'thing' is not exactly what I want either.

I dont know, I can get through a day if I dont charge it in the car after work and all that stuff but I just always charge it JUST in case.

For what the phone does, and how much we use it, the battery is actually VERY good.

Well, then you need one of these, puppies!! Toughskin from Speck. I've got this case and dropped my iPhone a few times and it actually bounced, lol!!

That is awesome too! This is better than the Mac boards :)

I NEED that. DD - 2 - dropped my phone no less than twice off the bleachers while DS was at swim practice today. Lucky for me, mine seems pretty tough, but I keep wondering how many more times it can be dropped before its another $350 check to AT&T!

I was part of a focus group in December that had a Disney Map app coming out for your cell. These apps look like the map function I saw but the one Disney is making has much more functionality (shortest path from a to b, menu's, standby and fastpass times, etc.)...especially if you are Verizon. The did mention that they knew how popular the IPhone was and were considering apps for that. Hopefully all us Apple lovers will get that soon.

I downloaded these for the iPhone about 2 months ago, and they were free. They weren't very inormative or working well...

I guess they got the kinks out and updated it and charged a buck for each one. I kept them just on merrit, and whn I was fooling with them a couple days ago and found all the additions and updates.

Here's the link...

I got it during a 1/2 price sale, luckily. And EVERYBODY asks what the heck it is when they see it, lol.. It's a bit bulky, but sooooooo worth it!

There's also a Kindle app for the iPhone now. Amazon has some Disney travel books available for Kindle--another way to take a little bit of Disney along with you. :)

I have these apps downloaded onto my iPod Touch. I haven't made the jump to iPhone because I can't get insurance on it. I drop my phone a lot and have left it in various public places many times. I just don't trust myself.

The apps are really cool, tho. I have all 4 parks. As long as I'm where there's a wifi signal I can tour my favoritest places to be. :animwink:

Best Buy offers a plan, I think it's $15/month, but it covers drops. I kept dropping mine until I signed up:eek:

Sadly, I think I was less stressed about it and that made me more normal handling it. I was neurotic about it before I got the plan.
