Sooooooo.... :lookaroun

Enjoying your free bumpers are we? LOL :lookaroun

Jobs is such an arrogant ______________. :dazzle:
"All smartphones have this problem".

Yeah, no, your wrong. The messiah... is wrong.

:lol::lookaroun

The vast majority do. You can have a search on YouTube and find all the latest smartphones being demoed losing signal when held in a certain way. Just like with Disney, being the best means that Apple always hit the headlines. This has been blown so far out of proportion its amazing.

Apple put up a nice page showing some Droid and Blackberry phones doing the exact same thing.

Funny that nobody talks about those. But thats because they are a drop in the iPhone ocean I guess.

I don't need a bumper to fix the "problem" (never lost a call so far on my iPhone 4), but I'm happy to get a free case, and for those that need it, good for them.

I thought Jobs was absolutely superb in the press conference the other day. Wish he could be more involved in Disney.

It's interesting they have sold 3 million phones in 3 weeks, and they have the lowest return rate of all smartphones, and a third of the return rate of the iPhone 3GS.

This whole iPhone 4 thing is just the media desperate for a story. Why does America want to shoot down it's own success stories? It was the same with Microsoft a few years back, and now Apple. Would everyone be happier to see HTC or some other Asian outfit be the lead tech firm? I would far rather support the design, employment and tech coming from my own country.

I was considering getting a new phone that could be used internationally, but after looking at everything and realizing I'll likely not need to have access to a phone at all times, I'm just going to upgrade Skype on my laptop and use that to make calls via WiFi connections.

Nope...never dropped a call on my 4 yet.

I bought a case for it the other day for protection purposes, not to solve any connection issues.

If thats the case Steve, then it was still kind of a d!ck move on Jobs part to say "Well everyone elses does it to!!! *pout*" Just be a man.. and stop pointing fingers. lol

Timeline:

-Adolescent Steve Jobs: *sticks gum to the bottom of his desk*

-Other students notice and call him out.

-Principal (*cough Consumer Reports cough*) puts out a report that sticking gum to the bottom of the desk is not recommended

-Adolescent Steve Jobs: *hold a press conference* "Well, Susie, Jimmy, and Bobby do it toooooooooo!!!!":cry:

Way to take the high road, and not revert back to grade school. Classy. :p

Eh... I am not going to get in a fanboi argument. The phone was released with a fatal design flaw.. and they knew it. It should of been a voluntary recall at the bare min. But literally... just throw a band-aid at people... that will fix it. lol Hope Apple enjoys their Class Action lawsuit.

I'm off to buy a new liver from a man in Thailand, and have my PR people lie to the SEC about my illness, to keep my companies stock prices high.:lookaroun

*runs away* :lookaroun

I have to agree. Apple knew about the problem and hoped that it come in under the radar. If they had included bumpers with the product at launch no one would have batted an eye.

What I don't understand, is why people, including yourself, are not acknowledging that this occurs with all the other phones. If it were unique to iPhone 4 I could see that its a problem. The fact that it occurs on all of them (and is demonstrated to do so), just seems like people are specifically aiming at Apple. It's quite bizzare. If I were American I would be glad to have an American company leading the world in phone design

here goes the signal on a Droid when gripped.

and to round out, here goes Windows Mobile

The "problem" has been in iPhone 1, 2, 3G, 3GS, and 4. It's also in every other smartphone from every other manufacturer. Why would they not launch iPhone 4? Until Apple redefine the laws of physics, you are going to have antenna issues when held in certain ways.

When that "certain way" is in your hand like every other cell phone I have ever used it is a big problem. I found out about this bug completely by accident. I was handed an iPhone 4 by a coworker and the call simply dropped. I handed it back he redialed, reconnected, handed it back to me and the call dropped again. I have used all of the phones that Job's mentioned save for the HTC and none have dropped a call when I simply held it.

No question you can get marginal signal areas where you can do this. Don't think I have ever owned a phone from any manufacturer and on any network that I have not had this happen. So far in this thread though I see 2 owners of iPhone 4, and both of them have reported zero dropped calls.

The return rate of iPhone 4 is one third that of iPhone 3GS. If it were as bad as the media had been making out, and everyone was losing calls, you would think that rate would be higher. Fact is, very very few people are seriously affected by this, and they are keeping the phone.

Or they have just put in a case or are dealing with it in some other way. The defect in the iphone 4 has an easy workaround had it been more severe I think we would have seen the returns be much higher. The big issue I had is Apple played the deny game until they were given no other choice.

Well some people are anti-Apple whatever they do. Just amazes me nobody sees the defect in all the others.

I can safely say I've never had a dropped call on any cell phone, iPhone or other. I live in a country with what turns out to have phenomenally good cell coverage and blisteringly-fast data connectivity. :king:

We don't get the iPhone 4 until 30 July, so can't speak specifically to it's issues or lack thereof, but I have a feeling they'll work just fine here. I was thoroughly disgusted by the data speeds and cell coverage in the LA/Anaheim area over the last few days. I've officially forgiven Rogers for almost everything bad I thought of them... Except maybe their gouging pricing!
