I saw yesterday on the news that Islands of Adventure was voted the best theme park in the world! I do agree, but #2 was Tokyo Disneyland, #3 was MGM Studios, and #4 was Seaworld, it was obvious disney world was not well liked in this poll. Portifino Bay Hotel also got Best Theme park Hotel. Tell what you think!

WOW, MGM #3. I've never understood why so many people seem to like this park that much. MK should have been up there somewhere instead, I can see aspects of IOA, Seaworld, and Tokyo DL getting high marks. But why MGM?????? I prefer US over MGM, and I don't like US much. I do love Fantasmic and ToT, and the Muppets, but that doesn't make it rank that high IMO. Portifino got #1 huh, it does look good, the Pacific does too. What where some other resorts up there?

>>>But why MGM??????<<<

Two reasons: Rockin' Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror. They are the only reasons that people like MGM better, and the only reasons that MGM has been a success.

Double WoW. Fort Wilderness made it. It is an incredible place, I just wasn't thinking about that type of resort when reading the list. Glad to see it up there. What is Wyndham Palace, is that a resort at the Downtown Disney area?

Since this list is a polled list, Meaning a group of people somewhere were asked their opinion based on some proposed question like "Which theme parks have the best BLANK? I just wonder if the BLANK was Roller Coasters or Thrill Ride, and not something like overall experience. The list looks to me like it was a very narrow choice or one from a certain gender or age bracket.
I'm speaking from my background in doing surveys for research.

O.K. there are a few questionable spots, but Carowinds before MK, no way. I live 50 minutes from Carowinds, it is no where near that great of a park. Granted, they have improved a lot over the past ten years, but they are ran down in lots of areas, have maybe two great thrill rides, almost zero flat rides (excluding kid area), and only a handful of family rides. The shows are disappearing each year (the country show building was turned into a ride, the Western show building was demolished, and the Ice Skaters have been closed for years). The only great ride they have is an inverted coaster called Top Gun. Sorry, but since this one is close to home I can say these things, especially when Carowinds is supposedly better than

Disneyland Paris
Epcot
Disney's Animal Kingdom
Busch Gardens Tampa
Walt Disney Studios Park
Kings Island
Universal Studios Florida
Kings Dominion

Got any idea what they were judged on in particular? It makes me laugh to think Carowinds outranks any of the Above.:hammer: I like Carowinds, just not before the parks I listed.

MGM was #3? Thats laughable.

Since this was only a "poll"... it doesn't actually mean that these people attended the park.

Carowinds? above MK?

While MK has it's problems... it doesn't even begin to compare to Carowinds.

yeah, the fact that disneyland and wdw's magic kingdom were so low is laughable. and to have usf rated below ush? i dont' know who voted for these things. and shouldn't animal kingdom lodge been on the hotel list? i dunno, just sounds screwy.

I agree. I have no background in surveys or polling, but I've seen enough results of polls, and then the original questions on the poll, to know that a survey can be designed to skew the results. And, let's face it, when someone says "theme park" to many of the people on this forum, they think something that Disney built. But there are alot of people who hear "theme park" and think of the best thrill rides, which (sigh) is not always Disney.

Not a very good "World" poll - Canada's Wonderland, just North of Toronto, Ontario, is just as good if not better than some of the Six Flags parks and by far much, much better than Knotts Berry Farm, Sea World anything and Legoland anything. 5,000 people polled is a drop in the bucket compared to the number of people that visit these parks over a year. Here is another good example of not believing or buying into everything you read. Sea World ahead of Magic Kingdom, I don't think so.

Although I agree with you, there are many, many, many....many people who do feel SeaWorld is the best park in Orlando. I am not one of them, but lots of everyday consumers will tell you that SeaWorld is a can't miss, even if you don't do anything else in Orlando. It's very likely that SeaWorld Orlando will rank high or higher than MK in many types of polls. People love an environmentally friendly park... and Shamu.

Hey youse guys, I like MGM! Was this an internet poll? If it was, then of course you are going to see some strange ranks on there. I've only been to about 12 of those places
