Introductory PTR May 24-17

Hello!

I love reading here and I love the Trip Reports! I am fairly new to this site. I have been reading for a while, but just recently signed up, and I thought this would be a good way to introduce myself to everyone.

We will be traveling to the World May 24-27, 2013. It's just me and DH this time! Here we are on our last trip in November 2012:

I've been going to Disney my whole life. My parents even took me to Disneyland at 3 weeks old for my newborn pics. Here's a special moment with Goofy:

Anyway. DH went for the first time in March 2010. He's been four times since then and loves it also (though not nearly as much as I do!).

This Trip will be to celebrate our one year anniversary!

Though it is a couple weeks early, we figured we would take advantage of the holiday weekend and not have to take an extra day off of work. We decided to fly down because we got a good deal on tickets and it was only going to be about $200 more to fly than drive! Well worth the money to not have to take an extra day off and deal with the stress of driving! We'll be staying at POP Century (our first time here and only my third time staying on property) and opted not to do the dining plan this time as we plan to share a lot of meals (we aren't big eaters). We have a four day MYW base ticket.

Here's the plan for the weekend:

May 24th - Get up EARLY and get to the airport. Flight lands at MCO around 8:30am. Hop on DME (another first!) and head to POP. Once we get checked in we'll head to Hollywood Studios for the day. My only requests are Beauty and the Beast (we missed this last time and it's a fave!) and Fantasmic (the song is my ringtone, so you know I love it!). Other than that we'll just play it by ear.

May 25th - Animal Kingdom. Up and early for EMH and straight to the safari! I'd love to be able to do all the shows and a few of the rides. We'll probably head out early and hit the Boardwalk (another first!). I want to have a late lunch/early dinner at Beaches and Cream if we can. I'd like to make it to DTD and go to DisneyQuest for a little while. We've never been and we have free passes, so we'll probably end the night at DTD with some shopping and hopefully to bed fairly early. Because...

May 26th - Magic Kingdom. We have ADR's for 7:15am for Breakfast at Chef Mickeys! DH has never done this one and I am super excited about it! We should be done in enough time to walk over to MK for the opening show and rope drop. We'll head straight back to Fantasy Land and Enchanted Tales with Belle. We didn't get to do this in November and I really want to, but I don't want to wait forever for it. We'll take it easy this day and head back the resort for a mid-afternoon break to check out the resort and maybe swim. Then back to MK for MSEP and Wishes. MK has EMH until 3:00am I think, so we'll probably stay for a while, but I don't want to be out all night!

May 27th - EPCOT. The park doesn't open until 9:00am this day, so we'll be able to sleep in a little/get packed and checked out and then head over and make the most of our last day. My only big thing I want to do here is the new Test Track. We'll have to be headed back to the resort around 3:00pm to catch DME for the trip home. We'll be back in our own home by 10:00pm if everything goes accordingly.

It's such a short trip, but I am super excited about it, as this is the first time it will be just the two of us at Disney. We've always gone with my family in the past. DH's Birthday is the Thursday we get home, so we'll be celebrating that as well as our anniversary.

Hope you'll enjoy reading along and I really can't wait to share our trip when we get back!

Sounds so fun! I was also there in Nov, over thanksgiving! I did do enchanted tales, and the experience is truly incredible.

We were there over Thanksgiving too! Actually, Thanksgiving was our first day in the parks! We only saw some of the soft openings so I am excited to see all the new stuff now!

I also got my package from the Disney Store in today! I have new shirts to wear at the parks!

I've started gathering some of our Disney things (Mickey ears, travel blankets, glow sticks) in a box in my craft room. Only 21 sleeps left!

I checked in yesterday! When I booked the package, I asked for a King size bed. That's our #1 request since we'll be celebrating our 1st anniversary. I also mentioned that we'd like to be in the 50s, 60s, or 70s building.

We are going to sit down and work out our touring plan this weekend. I already have my list of things I'd like to do, but DH still hasn't done everything since he's only been a few times (3-to MK 1-AK 2-EP 2-HS). I want to make sure we do as much on his must-do list as possible. He's not as big of a Disney fan (though he likes it), so I'm not sure he'll have much of a preference as to what we do.
I've added a few more things to my box that is collecting things for our trip. I'm going shopping this weekend for any last minute things we need. We'll probably bust out the suitcases this weekend and start the real packing. As I mentioned, we're flying to Disney for the first time, but we're only going for 4 days, so we're only taking two carry-on suitcases and two backpacks with us. I'm going to pack one backpack with stuff we'll need in the park the first day and the other with things we'll need on the plane. That way if our room isn't ready, we can just leave the suitcases and one backpack with bell services and head to HS right away!

We only have 9 sleeps left before we are in the Happiest Place on Earth!

Yep, King size bed definitely important for anniversary trips!

We always take an early flight which means our room is never ready. It's become a tradition for us to check in, leave our bags and head to the parks.
I hope the next week goes fast and your days in Disney go slow.

Well, we officailly leave on Friday! We're both excited. I started packing the suitcases this weekend and we got to talk over what we wanted to do. The only thing that DH said he wanted to do was Minigolf, so we will try to fit that is as well. Here's an update after we talked:

Fri (24th) - Arrive MCO @ 8:30am. DME to POP. Check-in and head to HS. Goals here: BatB, VOTLM, and F!. Other than just, just take it easy and do what we can as we will have been up since 4:00am.

Sat (25th) - 7:00am EMH at AK. Goals here: Safari, Everest, FOTLK, NEMO, FOW, and the trails. Hopefully we'll be headed out of the park fairly early. Head back to POP to drop our bag and maybe rest depending on how we feel and what time it is. Take bus to HS and walk to one of the mini-golf courses. From there we'll head to the Boardwalk and get an ice cream at Beaches and Cream. Once we've explored there we'll take a bus to DTD. DisneyQuest is on our list of things to do, but I'm not going to force it. I'd like to make it to the Christmas shop to have an ornament ordered. Hopefully to bed at a decent time tonight.

Sun (26th) - 7:15am Breakfast at Chef Mickeys! Walk to MK for rope drop. Goals here: FLE (we only got to do the Little Mermaid ride when we were there in Nov, so we want to check out the rest of the new stuff) and as much as possible. But really we're going to take it slow and enjoy what we can. We'll probably take a mid day break and head back to POP for a nap and pool time. Then back to the park for MSEP and Wishes and EMH.

Mon (27th) - Pack and Check-out. Drop bags with Bell-Service and head to EPCOT. Goal here: TT2.0. I want to take this day easy and enjoy it as it's our last day. We'll probably head back to POP around 3:00pm to catch DME for our 7:00pm flight home.

Goal for the trip: make it as relaxing and stress free as possible. If we don't see and do everything, it's no big deal. We'll enjoy what we do get to do and hopefully see some new things/things we haven't done in a while.

Hoping for good weather. I can handle an afternoon storm everyday, I just don't want it to be rainy all day every day. Right now the forcast is pretty promising:
Friday: High 91 Low 72 40% chance of rain
Saturday: High 90 Low 71 30% chance of rain
Sunday: High 87 Low 71 30% chance of rain
Monday: High 87 Low 71 20% chance of rain
I know things will probably still change between now and then, I just hope they change for the better!

How exciting your coming down the home stretch now!
We are also celebrating our anniversary over Memorial Day weekend #13! But we won't be at Disney :(

Your trip sounds well thought out and fun! We are avid mini Golfers, I like the Fantasia course a lot! Have a great time!

So Groupon had a great deal for a park and ride place by our airport, so we purchased that are only paying $28 for parking for the 4 days! That's pretty good in my book.

I also preordered the photopass CD yesterday. I'm excited about saving a little money and being able to get a lot of pictures!

So things are coming together! Lots of packing the rest of the week and getting things together around the house so we don't come home to a mess.

Only 3 Days left!

We're headed the The World tomorrow! I just got us checked in for our flight and the boarding passes printed! We're pretty much packed and I'm taking a half day off work so I can take the dogs to the in-laws this afternoon.

A little less than 24 hours until we land at MCO! Woohoooo!
