Intresting Universal Trip Report

Terminator? The Hulk? Twister? Sure they were exciting when these movies were a part of pop culture 10, 20 years ago...but now they seem so dated - and thus LAME.

While you had some good points in your post, the whole thing was slanted with an obvious anti-Universal bias. I took this like as an example.

There is currently a Terminator show on TV. A new movie comes out next month. Seems pretty timely to me.

The Hulk has been published in comic book form almost constantly since the 60s. There have been various media incarnations including TV shows, cartoons and movies. An original DVD movie was released months ago. And Incredible Hulk was a hit in theaters just last summer.

Twister? Sure, it's dated. Not as dated as Honey I Shrunk the Kids which has not one but two attractions at Disney.

Wow I didn't even get wet on Kali and Popeye got me drenched. Not to mention Popeye is longer.

Don't even mention Kali to my wife. We had to cut a day at AK short because she looked like she had been drowned. People were pointing and laughing as we exited the park! She is mad to this day and it was over 5 years ago.

Heading for the great escape.
Im intrigued, no one has ever forced me to partake in consuming alcohol at Universal. Perhaps its a new thing, best I extend my stay length then.

Not even Uni diehards like Twister
....*meekly raises hand* I do..

ANYHOO....Universal isn't Disney World. On that, we can all agree. It's a different park, to be sure. But "different" doesn't always equal "worse". My family and I enjoy both parks VERY much and never thought any of the things listed above were worth complaining about. We just go there, enjoy our family time, and enjoy the rides :)

The best thing about Universal is the Halloween Nights. I went down there last year for my B-Day to experience just that and it was crazy! Universal makes you pay for everything, if you want a fast pass its a extra $39.99 and you only get to use it once per ride! (total waste!) Then the event itself was separate from the two park tickets, no bundle price for the whole package, then a separate price for the fast pass to the Halloween Nights. (another $39.99) It was over a poor experience and way over priced. Universal was too small too pricey and unless you want to leave the park scared silly don't go to the Halloween Nights. :fork:

My two cents.....

Halloween Horror Nights is made to scare you and has always been a separately ticketed event. It is aimed toward adults and not kids. It has been rated the best Halloween event in the country with Knott's Berry Farm being #2. It costs less then a day ticket to the park and you can buy a ticket that allows you to go on multiple select dates which allows you to go more than once for one price.

Disney charges separately for the Halloween event also and it costs less then the normal day ticket. They have separate prices for a weekday event with the price being higher when it occurs on a weekend. The event is aim at kids and is purposely not scary because of this. Disney doesn't offer a ticket that allows you to go to their event on multiple select dates. You have to pay each time you go.

If you want to be scared which is what Halloween is about then you go to Halloween Horror Nights.

If you have kids or don't want to be scared and only want to dress up and maybe trick or treat then you go to Disney.

If you go to Universal expecting Disney you'll be disappointed every time.

They are two completely different parks with different demographics in mind.

That being said it does seem like Universal gets all the employees rejected by Disney. I've seen employees at Universal just totally ignore guests, talk on cell phones while loading rides, have various uniform items missing or dirty, etc.....Never saw a Disney cast member in such a poor state or behaving as badly.

I agree, i DO like universal, but only for the thrill rides and "different pace'
I cant EVER choose it over WDW though, not even in the same galaxy as far as guest experience is concerned.

And yet I have. I've also had a TM give my friends each a free 1 day 2 park pass because Uni messed up their Seasonal Pass renewal. I would have never gotten that at Disney without a fight.

Coming from a Disney CM...it happens all the time. I'm disgusted to see the way some CMs act.

I guess I don't understand the point of this post. Wouldn't this be better on the Universal part of WDWMagic? When it's posted here, it just seems like bashing & is not taken seriously.

Personally, I can't wait until my kids are a little older so we can go to USF. I love Disney and everything they do, but I haven't been to USF since 1992 (and had a really great time with that, even got chosen to participate in the Alfred Hitchcock show), so I haven't had a chance to see the new rides. Really loved the BTTF and the Hanna Barbara was fun, but I really do hope that HP does well. People need to understand that competition is good for all of us. If attendance starts slipping, as it was over at USF, they go ahead and build IOA. If attendance starts slipping at WDW, I'm sure management would kick it up a notch (if they aren't fired before that happens). With all of the stuff going on with DLR, it seems as if WDW is getting the short end of the stick, even though it is the biggest money maker for Walt Disney. Imagine what we would have in the four parks if they decided to dump over a billion dollars in the parks.

The only thing I can think of off the top of my head that Uni has really done wrong in the last 10 years was to close Hitchcock. It was a wonderful attraction for a movie-based park. I miss it terribly.:(

Oh...I forgot another. Simpsons. God, how I hated that ride. Huge step backwards, in my not-so humble opinion.:hurl:

Also, Halloween Horror Nights? Love it.

And of course I can't post abut Uni and not mention Mythos. Far superior to Disney park dining in it's current state. The only thing close was Cindy's Table before the character meals took over and they dumbed down the menu. Adios, fine dining in the MK.

On the topic of HHN, we're going to have something Saw related in some way.

...yay...

:hurl:

I hate that freaking movie franchise. Hopefully the other houses will make up for it.

And, Lee. I always see you talking about Mythos...why is it so good? Everytime I was there the past year it was closed.

As do I hate it. It's not horror, it's torture .

Mythos has been constantly rated the best restaurant at any theme park for I don't even know how many years.

When the park isn't busy, it's only open for lunch and not dinner.
