Everyone keeps saying "if you went in with high expectations you only have yourself to blame" but ITS DISNEY. I go into a disney theme park with my expectations set high for everything. Especially if I'm paying thousands of dollars for a family trip. If I had paid 2-3 hundred dollars for a dining package for my family I probably would have been angry with a show like this. Especially given the fact that disney dining packages are matched with some of the other great spectacles that disney is known and famous for . It is NOT the guests fault for having expectations and for being excited for something that was advertised as a great event, its disneys.
THIS .....1,000x over. I stated the same thing earlier. Enough of the "Disney is perfect " BS. People expected more because THIS IS FREAKING DISNEY!!

How hard is it to understand that? "Expectations " is not something I expect to hear defended/ridiculed in this situation. People are calling them out. So be it. Hopefully they learn from this.

This was not ready to go. Just wait and do it right. Same for the Safari. It's not rocket science, so don't make your guests pay for a trip to Mars.

To quote the well renowned Chaos expert, Ian Malcolm...."Yeah, yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could that they didn't stop to think if they should. "

The two large center screens were not meeting in the middle to the form the intended semi-circle. The center section was then missing, with nothing being shown in that part of the screen.
Watching the video, that was my biggest question since the water was not meeting in the middle and you lost the center of the projection. Low pressure or other malfunction?

With the dining packages, people are not wasting their money. The people get a three-course meal with the package for a set price, which is probably close to the price of a normal meal.

I haven't done the math with Tiffins and the pkg vs a regular meal, but at Tusker it's a waste if you have the pkg ADR and decide you don't want to see the show. Assuming Allears pricing is correct, my party of 6 (4 adults/2 kids) would drop $64 more (plus gratuity) to do the pkg vs. a regular dinner at Tusker.

I've just had a re-watch of the 'preview' footage of Rivers of Light from the media event last month and two things are to note regarding the large rear projection screen...

On the negative side it does seem that the screen doesn't meet in the middle in the preview, this time it looks like the water jet from the opposite side is struggling to meet in the middle so it is probably a wind issue, although you would hope they could increase the water pressure a bit more.

On the positive side in Rivers of Light the rear projection screen seems to be the 'background' and not the focus of what is going on with the lotus flowers in front in the preview and in the actual show I am sure a lot more. The projections in the preview also seem to acknowledge the potential weakness with the two water jets not meeting in the middle as the focus of the projection tends to be the left/right hand side or the lower half of the middle of the screen.

I really don't think people should be worried about Rivers of Light based on the Jungle Book show, although I hope the poor review make Disney either make improvements to the temporary show or focus all their efforts into getting Rivers of Light operational as originally planned.

At Tiffins, I believe the package is $67 plus gratuity. A typical 3-course meal would range from like $50 - $65. So with those added show tickets, it's a pretty good deal.

I could see people coming out ahead with the Tiffins package if the package menu is open to the full menu, or at least a number of the higher priced items on the full menu. The description says your choice of appetizer, entree, dessert, and non-alcoholic beverage, but the norm is for them to offer a more limited menu for dining packages. I know we had a specific menu when we did the F! pkg at Mama Melrose, and the same happened with the WoC pkg at Carthay Circle at DCA...and at least for the latter of the two, the package options were 'cheaper' items on the menu. In other words, I suspect the Wagyu will not be an option with the Tiffins pkg.

After watching the video,
The singers: The bass sounds like one of the singers from Festival of the lion king? The other male, is he the one from the Villain up charge party?
Choreograph was meh. Seemed like they took in non performers to move their hands a bit. (Think front line CMs)
Lighting: What?
Barges: DL F! barges showed up. The larger ones looked nice.
Projections: They looked bad in the ROL media preview and still do.
Overall: Its the Stitches great escape of shows.

At least Stitches Great Escape doesn't drag on as long as this one felt like it did

Windy again tonight. I'd be interested to know if they made any adjustments for tonight's show (eg water screens)

How much difference in attendance was there between the first and second show? Any chance the second show will soon be cancell?
How hard was it getting out of the park after the show?
Any increase or decrease in attendance in the park after the sun go down?

Just spoke to a friend of mine in AK tonight. Said the jungle book show wasn't good and needs a lot of work. Also said the tree of life projections aren't all that good either and all you can tell is that there is light. Not sure if they didn't see the actual show or just saw some of the awakenings.

All in all I'm hearing way more negative reviews of AK at night than positive ones so far from lots of friends and other online commenters who have experienced it the past 2 nights - really sad to hear this.

Absolutely correct. At no time did Disney ever suggest this was another World of Color; it was never intended to be that. If you created that expectation on your own, then you set yourself up for disappointmen; not Disney.

true but as a company when you build a product NO MATTER WHAT YOU SAY they expect a similar product. the bmw 318TI....it was a bmw sort of but bmw built other great cars so people bought in and where let down. you cant raise the bar and than lower it when you see fit and not be prepared for negative backlash. if Disney announced a regular generic theme park and said such how many people would still expect Disney land style theming? answer....most people.
