Oh, dear.

The CM's performing really appear to give it their all, as they usually do. But... oh, dear.

I know - you feel bad for them, because they are clearly giving a lot to this. If they were street performers in the parks this would be out of this world. But that is the most boring show I have ever seen at WDW, bar none. I can't imagine waiting in line for that, much less paying for "preferred seating". At least the Star Wars Fashion Show over at the studios is short and delivers consistent "moments" - this, though...it reminds me of the worst of 80's park entertainment.

I know y'all are like " Don't expect WOC" but would have been FANTASTIC is if they made a mini WOC like show. If they used the time to utilize the fountains correctly they could have put together little show filled with scenes from Pocahontas, tarzan, jungle book, and even use the sample ROL show they showed at the media event. They could have even used the FANTASTIC pocahontas scene from WOC. That would have been a much more impressive, low budget, filler nighttime show.

I booked a pkg at Tusker last weekend just in case this wound up being better than it sounded. I just 'tried' watching a video from last night and realized it was already 6 min into the show and I was still hoping it would get better. I sort of kept watching, but it just couldn't hold my attention. I'm sure I'm not the only one from the sound of things, but I'm seriously debating about dropping the ADR.

Even though Disney may be marketing this as a small tribute to the Jungle Book, the average guest will still be expecting a large scale nighttime spectacular. How many people visiting AK will know that this is a temporary replacement show? Few few I'd bet.

All I hear is a bunch of folks complaining who weren't there and the others typical complainers... Great show I'll see it again

Here is the problem. Disney over hypes all these events and never delivers. The show was ok, the water projections you could hardly see. Compared to World of Color in Disneyland it was terrible. If 4-5 mile a hour winds are going to effect it as another poster said it should never have been installed. They already had to delay the opening a month, and now they give this show until they can fix all the problems with the original. You can tell Disney whipped this together in 3 weeks and really should be ashamed of themselves for thinking that this would be ok. It would a nice daytime show to sit down and get some rest from walking. The Yeti never worked properly on Everest and it was touted as the biggest and most amazing Animatronic Disney ever built and it never worked. I hate to say this but lately it is getting to be typical of how Disney is operating. They put out all of these Imagineering Videos of how great it is going to be and it is less than spectacular. Tree of Life Awakening was a pleasant surprise however.
I agree, Tree Of Life Awakening is so far the best part of AK at night for now.

You must have missed the Disney awakening of the tree. Starts with Pocahontas and represents every movie that has had or will have a presence in Animal Kingdom. Pocahontas, Tarzan, Jungle Book, Nemo, Avatar, Lion King.

Also, they don't have movie versions of the Jungle Book characters in the parks. Since this version of the movie is what the show is based around, they aren't going to mix versions and ad the animated characters to the show.
Didn't they play "Love Is A Song" from Bambi at one point during the Awakening? I remember it featured a bunny and a fawn.

Yup....I was right. I got tired of the sitars in about 5 minutes.

A little sitar goes a Looooooong way.

..... but Disney is flawless. Don't you worry.

So does the angle of where you sit affect the show? I watched a bit last night and the guy had a horrible angle but the Midway video was much better.

I hope that ROL comes out soon but honestly I love cultural stuff so this actually kind of looks fun. While we have been to wdw many times we are not WDW yearly visitors so perhaps our expectations are lower or just not inline with those who have been waiting for sometime for something new and interesting?

As stated in my post, I was hoping for CLOSER to WOC. I wasnt expecting a full out WOC experience but I guess in more in the middle between this show and WOC. The water screens looked kinda small. Maybe im wrong since I just watched youtube footage

Since I have no preconceived notions as you appear to, I would just go in hoping it's a good show. Because you're looking for any comparison to WOC (which I haven't seen because haven't been to DLR) you've set yourself up for disappointment, regardless.

Now, on its own, I saw the video, and thought "meh". But then again I was watching it on an iPhone and it looked like a show hastily put together, which it was. Imagine that?

Did you happen to get a glance at the screens off to the sides of the main one? Were they any better quality? They were not facing my direction so I couldn't get a fair assessment
I actually wonder if they will end installing a middle Fantasmic style "fan" water canon.

Everyone keeps saying "if you went in with high expectations you only have yourself to blame" but ITS DISNEY. I go into a disney theme park with my expectations set high for everything. Especially if I'm paying thousands of dollars for a family trip. If I had paid 2-3 hundred dollars for a dining package for my family I probably would have been angry with a show like this. Especially given the fact that disney dining packages are matched with some of the other great spectacles that disney is known and famous for . It is NOT the guests fault for having expectations and for being excited for something that was advertised as a great event, its disneys.

Yes, I was shocked at how big they are in person! How was the quality for your show? Did the giant screen in the center create the full mist screen or was there a gap too? Also, I want to point out that unlike what a previous poster said, the wind was definitely blowing more than 5mph. I'd say it was along the lines of 10. Still though, it begs the question why couldn't they have made a mist screen that doesn't break apart in the wind?

Again people need to get over themselves and their idiotic expectations for this show. Not once did Disney market this has some giant fantastic nighttime show. It is literally exactly what they said it would be, a small tribute to the recent Jungle Book film. Sorry you all are too dumb to understand that, but seriously go cry a river somewhere else. As much flack as I give this company, I still applaud them for throwing this show together on the whim. Hopefully some of the critiques the show has been getting will help them enhance it for however long it plays at DAK.
The gap was the FIRST thing I noticed when watching the video. That is a big error. That needs to be resolved right away. ROL projections don't fix that.
