Insurance Automatically Added?

I have read several threads that say booking a package through WDTC they will automatically add insurance to the cost? I'm one of those that runs spreadsheets galore when planning a trip and unless the room rates already include insurance with them, I don't think WDTC adds insurance automatically. The numbers I ran for our trip from room rates on line and ticket prices on line match up with what WDTC quoted me. I don't see anywhere on our confirmation information that we have included insurance. Unless I'm missing someting, we have never had insurance automatically added before either.

Any experiences out there, should I call to confirm?

99% of the time the CM will quote you the price with insurance. On line insurance will be added 100% of the time unless you de-select it. Call to confirm whether you have it or not.

I've always booked direct with the WDTC over the phone and they always inform me of the price and that it includes the travel insurance. Also they always confirm with me whether I want the insurance added or not.

Booked over the phone and never had CM mention insurance. Sounds like I need to call but the rates I got online from wdwinfo.com for 2010 end up matching what I was quoted by WDTC. I don't see any mention of insurance being included with the rates though?

Did you book a Magic Your Way package or a room only reservation? Insurance can only be added to packages.

Our experience is they do automatically add it. You must tell them that you do not want insurance. It's kind of sneaky if you ask me. They should quote you the price and ASK YOU if you would like insurance.

I agree that it is a little sneaky. They added it to our package, thinking it was a part of it and not realizing it is optional, but I'm actually glad we have it. You never know what will happen!

For anyone that wants trip insurance, you can get it MUCH cheaper elsewhere. Insuremytrip.com has a bunch of options. Disney prices are always ridiculous when it comes to "extras".

It is not likely that unofficial sites would include insurance as the price of the insurance is based on the number of adults in the party and not which resort you are booked at. Ultimately if you booked a package, online or over the phone, and did not decline insurance chances are you will have it.

They usually don't add the insurance until you click "Select This Offer" or similar; that second screen summarizes the package and then adds the insurance.

Give it a try.

This is going to be an interesting exercise for me. We have booked packages several times before and never remember insurance as an item with our package (may have been paying for it and didn't realize it).

I just can't figure out how my "spreadsheet" pricing of our trip matches (within $5) WDTC invoice.

That's what happened to me for this upcoming trip. And it took quite a bit of time, sighs, and argument on their end. I was put on hold for quite a while after I insisted that I had specifically declined just a few hours earlier.
In my case, its not that they added and didn't tell me- they asked, and I said no.
Luck just had it that we quickly decided to change resorts within hours of booking, and the mistake was found then.

When I called a couple weeks ago, they recited off too me all that I had booked (resort, days on tickets, parkhopper, etc), and then said "with travel insurance, for a total of X dollars." I don't know if I consider that "sneaking it in", or suggestive selling, or a combination of the two. LOL All I had to do was tell them I don't want insurance, and they took it off and it was no big deal.
