Hello All,

I am currently a Senior at Tarleton State University and am currently taking an Advanced Leadership class. We have been assigned a research paper and presentation on Great Leaders, I decided to pick Walt Disney. I know there is a ton of information on him out there, but I was wonder if anyone has seen a documentary, or read a biography that you considered to be great. If so would you mind sharing it with me?

Thank you for any info!

I have google him, but we need 4 sources and only one can be web based. So I was wondering about books, tv documentaries, or anything along those lines.

there was a negative bio about 25 years ago. "hollywoods dark prince" also the new disney museum near san francisco might be helpful.

there is a documentary called the man behind the magic. its probably one of the best ones ive seen on him before. and if you go to your local library im positive ou can find atleast one biography on him

Building a Company: Roy O. Disney and the Creation of an Entertainment Empire.
Walt Disney: An American Original.

The first one is better

Walt Disney: The Triumph Of The American Imagination by Neal Gabler is a great biography. I recently used it for a research paper and it's pretty useful.

The documentary, Walt: The Man behind the Myth is pretty good. Lots of interviews from people who knew him personally.

i've read/ watched all of these and they're really good! cabler's is a touch "less disneyfied". there's really a TON of places to find references.

a few side items: "walt and el groupo" was a neat documentary about his south american trip mostly during the strike period- really great stuff in it! also, check info about "the sherman brothers" just watched a documentary about them- they were behind sooooo many of the disney classics, and really had quite a relationship with walt.

good luck with the assignment! it should really be enlightening!

And this disgusting, hateful, biased left-wing bunch of crap with it's frequent errors and disputable credibility is helpful for Thrillshow03s research exactly why?

Neal Gabler's book is fantastic. He does a great job of presenting all of Walt great traits and triumps while also being critical of his vices and shortcomings. It's definitely a more true-to-life bio versus one of those Bios that tend to be all rosie and positive. Mine is full of flags and highlighting and margin notes from when I wrote my thesis last year. Definitely recommend!

I found "The Animated Man: A Life of Walt Disney" by J. Michael Barrier to be exceptional. Lots of good reviews on Amazon. It was very non-biased and he actually updates to book and his website frequently whenever he finds a discrepancy. He even explains on his web site what he got wrong and why. And he explains what other books got wrong and why as well.
