Indy Ride At WDW

I just got back from WDW on Sunday 8/24. While we were there, a Disney bus driver told us we had better see the Indiana Jones stunt show while we still could, it would be leaving soon. I asked him what would replace it and he told me that the Indiana Jones ride from California was being built as a replacement! I am excited because I have never ridden this ride? How is it?

it could be true, but it's not really "while you still can see it" time for Indy Stunt Spectacular yet...he'll be around for at least a couple more years...

The Temple of Mara ride at DL is unbelievable. This has got to be one of the best rides I have ever ridden. There are 3 different variations of the ride and each one is great. It is totally worth going to California for. This is also one of the great queues. The first time we rode it was pre-fast pass. When you entered the queue, you were handed a card with the alphabet of some ancient civilization on it and as you winded your way through the line, you could translate various ominous warnings about the Temple. It was very cool. Now with FP, you miss all of that. It's a shame too, some of the best queues now have FP and you miss all the neat stuff that was there because you are rushing to get on the ride and not appreciating the atmosphere. Anyway, the Temple of Mara is great.

While I suppose the Indy attraction COULD come to the Studios, I don't think they'd axe the Stunt Show for it. After all, it's one of the few attractions there that are true to the park's theme, to get you to experience a movie first hand.

But with the new auto stunt show coming in, the park will have 2 stunt shows... :animwink:

So? The new show will be an auto show, and Indy's show has people/fight stunts. In my mind, they're completely different.

Well, the many of you have actually ridden a form of the Temple ride and may not know it. It is essentially the same ride structure as the Dinosaur ride in DAK. Only the theming and audioanimatronics are designed around Indiana Jones.

I have ridden both, and they are both fun (and definitely differently-themed), but the ride structure is essentially the same.

It's an issue of money. It doesn't make sense to run two expensive stunt shows if one is clearly more popular than the other (which the new show will certainly be--it is simply more high tech, more "testosterone driven"). As opposed to paying for more actors, it would make more sense to have one show, and put in a new attraction in place of the other. Case in point (I have heard stories about zoning issues w/ the theatre--somehow it was never meant to be permanent), we now only have Beauty and the Beast, not it and the Hunchback...paying to have two expensive stage shows daily does not make as much sense as adding new, different attractions to make a more diverse park. We don't want a park full of shows, and it's been awhile since a new ride has debuted at the Studios (4 years on my count)...time for a new ride, I think.

I'd think adding a new attraction like DL's Indy would be just as expensive as maintaining it, not to mention the bad move of dumping all the stunt show's crew. And as prberk stated, we already have it in the form of Dinosaur.
As for the park full of shows, it's not like keeping the Stunt Show will make it unbearable!

And just a little P.S., I love how people tend to say "it's time for a new attraction, the last one there is FOUR years old!" Space just opened, go there! They just added RnR and Tower of Terror 4! Come on, it's not like they aren't working! Personally, I'd rather not have new attractions for 10 years if Disney could guarantee they'd start taking more care of what they have now, including on CM hiring, cause we know how many of them are lacking the magic...

That didn't stop us from getting Star Tours and Body Wars! While the layout of DINOSAUR and Indy are the same, the motions of the car is completely different. There is no way anyone would think they are any more similar than say... Small World and Pirates (which also have the same ride system.)

Right, of course. :)

Still, I don't see why they can't expand without replacing.

Well I think the boat pilots are the best source! They know everything. :hammer:

So does anyone want to venture a guess if an Indy Ride would be an exact copy of the one at DisneyLand or the one at Tokyo DisneySea or if they would add a 3rd type of temple?

AMEN!, You're absolutely right, even with Dinosaur right next door at AK, an Indy ride in MGM is more than welcome.

And besides, who cares if Dinosaur has the same ride system like the Indy's DL version?, the most important thing is the theming, and in that point, Indiana Jones is clearly superior. :sohappy:

An imagineer told me the ride profile of Dino and Indi are the same, as with Star Tours and Body Wars. Anyone have a reliable source on this? Is the above information based on personal ride experience, or on design information, AndyMagic?

If the business end works out, I'll aways go on another ride, and I did enjoy Indi. in CA.

The ride, "profile" is not the same. The track layout however, is almost exactly the same with only a slightly shorter version for DINOSAUR. The bucking and pitching of the cars are not the same in both rides.

My neighbor came back from Disney saying that too. I wonder if they had the same busdriver or something.

I like Indy and stuff but i think the stunt show is totally awesome. I dont want to see it go . I wasnt all that impressed with the DINOSAUR attraction at AK so i doubt i would like this.

Just to let you know, its the Temple of the Forbidden Eye. Not the Temple of Mara.:) Just to let you know. You're right though, it is probably one of my most favorite rides right next to Alien Encounter. I don't think it matters if Dinosaur already uses the same technology. WDW already has 4 Dumbo-like rides! Besides, they can always change the track layout. Indy is definately comming.:sohappy:

Its a whole lot better than Dinosaur in My opinion. It has the best use of Detailing, audio animatronics, and special effects ever! Plus, its more intense than Dinousaur. Don't get me worng, but the Indy show is a great show, but its just getting too old. Its 14 years old and the show is still the same. One time, I passed an old couple saying, "Geez, I'm tired of this. Every year its just the same old show." But if it makes you feel better, Disney is getting Motors in Action stunt show. I've seen a video of it, and talk about impressive. Its sort of like Indy, but with bigger and better stunts.
