Indiana Jones at Magic Kingdom

Again, just because it has the same ride system as another ride doesn't mean it will never happen... Epcot was pretty much entirely omnimover rides when it opened pretty much using the same ride system. Now it varies a lot. Radiator Springs will be different from Test Track and Journey to the Center of the Earth. It could happen and I really hope it does...

Well, it's not just the ride system.. but the story itself will have some slight similarities to Test Track. Here's the RSR summary as Imagineer Kevin Rafferty described it (D23 Expo).

You can see in the models that most of the show buildings are tucked in mostly toward the south. Basically, the rundown is that you'll enter through an extremely elaborately themed outdoor queue that will start at the fire house and wind back to the big canyon area tucked behind the front hills. He said there will be a house made of glass bottles and all kinds of cool things the Cars have collected as well as neat water spring features and lots of landscaping. The ride takes you past the big waterfall and inside the show building where you meet the characters and while they drive backward they will interact with you personally. Then you hear about the race you're going to be involved in and they tell you you have to get ready. You go through a bunch of effects rooms somewhat based on Test Track, but much more highly themed and elaborate, then you set up for the race. The race takes you basically on two big laps around the whole outdoor area, the one lap featuring a fast straightaway and the and a wide banked turn and one featuring several bunny hills and a tight turn. Then the climax of the ride takes us diving down a hill into a dark cavern underground. First you pass through an area full of hot springs that give Radiator Springs its name and then into a deeper cavern full of "stalaglights" giant stalagtites that look like classic car lights. It really sounds pretty amazing.

It should definitely be even more impressive then Indy in size and technology. Kevin said the main show building alone is larger then Indy's, to get a sense for how epic this ride will be. He said it is the biggest attraction Disney's ever built. Opinions will obviously vary as to if it's better, but it will certainly be a top of the line E-ticket on a simmilar level.

As for JTTCotE I could see that happening because not only do ride vehicles have a unique look, the story is also much different.

I seriously don't see it being a big deal. DHS has the perfect space for it right behind Pixar place. And I think Lasseter wants it in Florida, going by what some insiders have said. But it'll probably be years until it does happen.

I just don't see them not wanting to put such a huge investment (not to mention being such a marvel of a theme park attraction) like that in their bread and butter theme park. No matter how hard TDO tries to fight it.

If Harry Potter is a success you'll see all kinds of stuff coming to The World. RS is the one thing Disney has that could really compete with it.

I realize there is space for it in Pixar Place, I was only bringing up the similarities to Test Track. By building Cars Land and the rest of the expansion at DCA they are hoping to attract more guests -- cloning the rides into other parks kinda defeats that strategy and their billion-dollar investment.

Agreed with this... DCA is arguably the most unsuccessful of all Disney theme parks, perhaps tied with Hong Kong Disneyland. The Disneyland Resort has often had to practically give the tickets away, by wrapping up DCA tickets with tickets to Disneyland for a slightly higher price. Cloning Cars Land across the country would rob DCA of its biggest chance to step onto the global stage of Disney parks... not to mention a Cars Land would be completely out of theme in a park related to Hollywood Studios, and would be too huge and separate in theme to be part of Pixar Place.

What I'd like to see instead: use the new RSR technology to renovate Test Track so it would break down less often, and make the theme more futuristic/optimistic/Epcotish while they're at it. Then, instead of adding a Cars Land to DHS, bring some other non-represented Pixar movies to Pixar place, like an Incredibles or Up ride or a Ratatouille restaurant... Or if they really wanted to go the extra mile, add lands to themed to other slick Disney franchises like the Muppets or maybe even Marvel, or a new Toontown to replace the one at the MK.

Just fantasy, of course. As much as I may dislike it, Disney just cloning Cars Land over to the backlot is far more likely. :animwink:

Where does that leave the Walt Disney Studios in Paris? :lookaroun To be honest, I think World of Color will put DCA on the global stage of Disney parks, but that is for a separate thread. California Adventure needs a unique signature attraction (and with Soarin, TSMM, and soon TLM already cloned into other parks.. it needs RSR!).

I would rank the bottom three parks like this 1 being best 3 being worst.

1. DCA
2. HKDL
3. DSP

My roomate pointed out to me that in terms of space, The Backlot Tour really isn't that big... It winds around LMA a couple times and then enters Catastrophe Canyon. If the whole thing was demoed, there still wouldn't be much room for anything. I think the far more likely scenario would be for the show building/queue to be turned into an attraction and the rest of it could be used for something else. I still think that plot behind Premiere Theater would be a good place for RSR. Not all of Carsland, but just RSR...

If that's the case, Disney would be stupid not to bring a modified version of RSR to WDW. The Land depends on locals, that will get locals going. It would not hurt DL at all if in a couple years RSR winds up in DHS, which I really think will happen.

If not they need something else huge for the World. It's going to need it, imo...

Yeah, after they got rid of the houses to put in LMA, there isn't much left to the backlot tour. I doubt a whole land could fit back there, but they could easily work in a couple new rides that are Pixar based. Actually, I'm going to start a thread on this - I'm sure there are plenty of great ideas.

True, but some of the shops that you drive by, like the wardrobe, could easily be relocated to other parts of property, either within the Studios or elsewhere in backstage areas of WDW. They were originally built to provide support to the working studios. now, they keep them there so that the trams have something to look at. Move them and the adjacent workshop away to somwhere else, and suddenly you have a lot of extra room...

Getting rid of the Indy stunt show would be stupid, plays to almost full capacity crowds almost all the time!! I would like to see it updated though (new story, new stunts etc) but keep S****r!!! :D

Well if WWOHP is a success TDO doesn't need to start cloning. Let Indy and RSR be unique to DLR and DCA. Using the WWOHP is a success as an excuse is just pathetic. Can they not come up with their own ideas for once?

You know what also is the same?

Rock'n'Rollercoaster and THIS...

They can have the same layout and ride system yet still be totally different, especially with EMV rides.

1. What track is that?
2. I can only continue dreaming of an unique Indy ride at DHS, let's not forget about dreaming of an official Star Wars Cantina restaraunt while we're at it!!

Indy needs to be different at every park..Which is why I keep saying that DHS NEEDS A WATER RIDE!!!

Looks like you and I have very similar thoughts on this

I really think an Indiana Jones water ride would be a great addition to DHS (or any park, really, but DHS needs it the most) and it would be the best thing Disney's had for promotion in years (besides the promotional push they'll do when FLE opens)

Put me down as another fella that doesn't get the Indy stunt show hate.

I think I would disagree that we have more unique E-tickets than Disneyland. Proportionately, it seems like it all works out:

Disneyland-
-Indiana Jones Adventure
-Matterhorn
-Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin
-Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage
-California Screamin'
-Grizzly River Run

Walt Disney World-
-Spaceship Earth
-Mission: SPACE
-Test Track
-Rock 'n' Roller Coaster
-Kilimanjaro Safaris
-Expedition Everest
-Dinosaur
-Kali River Rapids

Kinda sad that the Magic Kingdom doesn't have a single unique E-ticket that Disneyland park doesn't, isn't it?

What I would like to see happen is build that Indy super show-building concept in our Adventureland, with the intertwining EMV and runaway mine cart rides, and the Railroad and Jungle Cruise crossing through, too.
Tower of Terror is so far beyond Rock N Rollercoaster in every way. Either you are crazy or a HUGE Aerosmith fan:shrug:

Indy can be different without changing the ride system. Look at TDS' version, it has the same ride layout and EMV system but it has a giant tornado effect, a fire smoke ring effect, a different queue, and a Mayan theme rather than a India theme. I'd like to see the same done for WDW, same basic ride experience but new encounters and effects. WDW simply must have it! Its so incredible.
