Since we’re sharing anecdotal evidence, here’s the next 3 showings at the theater near me… Not sold out but far from empty too, pretty decent for a Friday afternoon into evening.

My personal ranking of Indiana Jones films

Raiders
The Last Crusade
Temple of Doom
Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis cutscenes
Young Indiana Jones and the Mystery of the Blues
The Mummy (1999)
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
The Mummy (1999) > Raiders

That said, it wouldn't have been made without the success of the Indiana Jones films, so credit where it is due.

For me:

The Mummy
Last Crusade
Raiders
The Mummy Returns

(I remember Temple of Doom being unpleasant and having the bratty kid sidekick and absolutely nothing else about it as I don't think I've rewatched it in years. Though I currently have all three Indy films* sitting on my watchlist on Disney+ vaguely tempting me to rewatch them.)

* There are only three Indy films. And two attempted reboots starring people who don't interest me.

Hope to see it Monday. Looking forward to seeing my favorite Antifa hero paired with another heroine who, like Rey, inspired John Williams to hold off retirement.

Just came out of seeing it. It was decent movie. A little long. They needed to cut down the New York chase and maybe eliminate the golf cart chase. The beginning 30 minutes was well done. It had a very dark CG look to it. The de-aged Indy was the best yet but they didn't de-age his voice. He sounded like old man Indy. The second de-aging was better since it was 12 years ago. The bad guy was well done but his reason for going back in time was silly. The end of the movie was very exciting and final scene almost made me cry.

Problems with the movie is the girl was snarky towards Indy. She should have known more about him. She is pretty unlikable. The short round type kid was pointless outside of providing a ride at the end.

Overall it was a good Indy movie. No where near as good as the original three. I'll have to download the soundtrack and listen to it. There wasn't anything that stood out besides the overuse of the Indy theme.

For anyone who did like it, happy you had a good time of course. But for me, this was a new low for the Indy film franchise (just purely comparing the five theatrical films, haven't played any of the games or watched the tv show etc). Even a bit worse than Crystal Skull. Just completely bland and devoid of entertainment. As far as i'm concerned, there are only three Indiana Jones movies and the franchise ended with Indy riding off into the sunset in Crusade. I even like Temple of Doom a lot more, despite it having a ton of problems...

Tempted to try out Fate of Atlantis someday though.

I didn't like it ... but I'm not sure exactly why I didn't like it. I think it may be that there were 20 or 30 little small film-making decisions that I kinda, sorta didn't like, rather than one or two big production choices that I really hated. I suspect they fixed something I would have absolutely hated by changing the ending after the first cut of the film (to me, it's fairly easy to see how what I suspect was the original ending was being set up by choices earlier in the film). In general, it was a little too long, a little too boring, a little too depressing, and a little too much like a modern day action film (CGI, impossible physics, shaky cam) than the original trilogy. I do think it is better than the Crystal Skull.

This is one you should watch in theaters in my opinion. I saw it in a ScreenX theater and it was a visual treat.
The CG looks silly…are you disputing that?

I’m not decided either way. But do iger/kennedy deserve my business? No they do not…

Get me the rogue squadron movie and announce Rian Johnson is not allowed in a Disney facility again. Then faith is rewarded.

…you probably think I’m joking, right? 😎

…ok…gonna need to hush up right there 🤪

But seriously…raiders is one of the best action/adventure movies ever. So is empire.

But it’s largely so because of when it came out and the world it came into and what has happened since. Time and space.

Not considering that is EXACTLY Why LFL is failing…and on the other side why maverick was such a ridiculous smash hit.

People like to “go home again”…don’t hate them for it. Studios need to understand.

Regarding the CGI specifically ... I thought the de-aging was actually pretty good. But there was a small three second snippet of Indiana Jones running in the distance, in the dark, on top of the train where I couldn't believe how bad it looked. It looked like the guy running in Atari 2600 Pitfall. Because it was so early in the film, I said to myself that I needed to be prepared for bad CGI - it completely threw me out of the movie. And the golf cart chase CGI was ridiculous, but that was mostly because of the impossible physics involved.

I know it's cheaper to use computers, but I can't believe these major filmmakers and studios don't realize that if they just do the stunts with practical effects and stunt men, it looks soooooo much better. Tom Cruise has figured it out - which is why Mission Impossible has the best looking action sequences and Top Gun Maverick made a gajillion dollars last year.
