Is it normal for animated features to have so many ‘considerations’ for awards? I get best picture and animated, but holy smokes Disney is trying hard for this one:

Not really, if you're putting in for Best Picture/Animated you're almost always going to go for Director, Editing, Screenplay, and Cinematography. Same with the more technical awards like Design, Sound, or Effects, if you think you have a chance at any your're going to try for all of them.
