Increasing D23 membership with park perks?

what are the perks for D23 currently?

:zipit::zipit::zipit::zipit:
I just can't do it again... basically a magazine you get 4 times a year, and the exclusive right to spend lots (typically $100 or higher) more money on member only merchandise and events.

A nice membership scroll and free pin, lithograph, a paper fan, and a D23 sticker.

So far... :D

Someone mentioned earlier that giving D23 members early access to the parks would be cost-prohibitive.

What about just giving members access to Extra Magic Hours, without proof of saying at a resort? Because I'm an Orlando local, I'm never stay on property--I just drive 30 minutes back home. Thus, I never get to take advantage of Extra Magic. I think that would be a nice perk!

And it seems like it would hardly cost anything because they're already opening the parks early anyway. And at $75 a membership, I doubt any out-of-town vacationers would buy a membership solely to be able to take advantage of EMH without staying on property--it just wouldn't be cost effective for them.

This could work and with the parks already open its more people in the parks to spend more of their money.

Exactly...I doubt that the parks would be flooded in that matter.

That, too.

How long is D23 been going on? I know I have recieved certain things about this, but not paid much attention to these. I do get "Celebrations" mag..and LOVE it! If D23 is in it's early stages, maybe ideas coming from this thread will be very much taken into consideration..given time and more membership.

I agree. I have the D23 membership and APs, and the latter is far more important to me than the D23 membership. Maybe if they announced some tangible incentives outside of the opportunity to buy D23 merchandise or travel out to California for the convention I'd keep it. But I just don't see any real discounts or enticements coming down the pipe from them any time soon......

Except that wasn't even exclusive to D23 members!

I would probably consider it if it came with perks like reserved fireworks/parade areas. But probably every single AP holder would join if those entitlements were available, which would mean they'd need to raise the price of D23.

The lounge would definitely be the easiest thing to add for D23 members. I remember a few years back they had a lounge at Epcot inside the Land for APs. I'm not sure if it's still used as often but they could just use the space in there. But yeah, until they actually do something worth the price tag I'm fine with just being a regular fan of Disney:sohappy:

If they WEREN'T to raise the price, it would be smart. It would really show that it's just meant to be a club, and there ARE some perks.

Now, it just looks like something of no value to me, and in that, just a cash grab for Disney.

IMHO.

At TDS we average 2.2 d23 mebership sales a month. I am not a member because they don't offer enough for the annual fee. If they started to offer some in park perks would more people join and if you haven't joined would you?

The perks could be a # of things.

1. Access to a special D23 lounge in EC. The lounge could be for members only.

2. Priority seating for Fantasmic

3. Early or late access to the parks

I am a member, but quesiton what I got for my $75 living in MN and not going to the parks (especially DL) more than every couple of years but:

1) Yes
2) I'd argue this for all fireworks shows, yes (Illuminations requires the same sit and wait issue)
3) How many D23 members already stay onsite and get this anyway?
4) (later post) 10-25% discounts on rooms - we're also DVC members, this doesn't help us.

What about:
1) Merchandise discounts
2) Dining discounts
3) 1 free round of mini-golf with a park admission purchase (see #4 above as why not just for a hotel package)
4) D23 events, welcomes, social events, etc. year round at Disney Parks.
5) Tour discounts
6) Similar to a lounge, D23 welcome center with more in depth unique information for members since they likely already have a strong tie/knowledge of Disney

They already have those, but they seem to be few and far in between. I think the idea is a good one, though...But it would be nice to have something always going on in the "D23 Lounge/Center" for members. I honestly think, that depending on how advanced that was, I would be pacified.
