Increasing D23 membership with park perks?

They already have those, but they seem to be few and far in between. I think the idea is a good one, though...But it would be nice to have something always going on in the "D23 Lounge/Center" for members. I honestly think, that depending on how advanced that was, I would be pacified.

I have to agree. If I knew that there was a place like this to relax during my trips to the parks I'd probably stick with the D23 membership. But if they can't keep a lounge in place for the AP holders, I don't like the odds for either park putting a D23 lounge in place any time soon.....

Right. They had one for one of the events....For FAWF, I think. But it would be pretty awesome to have a little hang out in the parks. :D

OMD is "sponsored" by D23...Maybe something like that? A Museum in every park? They had one in EPCOT, until they decided that a BGM and some show lighting was too cost intensive.:brick:

The lounge would definitely be the easiest thing to add for D23 members. I remember a few years back they had a lounge at Epcot inside the Land for APs. I'm not sure if it's still used as often but they could just use the space in there. But yeah, until they actually do something worth the price tag I'm fine with just being a regular fan of Disney:sohappy:

I would like to see a Lounge for both D23 and AP, even if it's just a simple refreshment center. Something to get away during the day... :lookaroun

This also crossed my mind as well. Unfortunately, I can see more support for a D23 Lounge than an AP Lounge... :(

Anything.:shrug::lol:

I see more support for the D23 Lounge, too. It seems that that would be more park based, while more AP holders might have hotel rooms to retire to. But that's not the whole, case, I know.

Fun times above The Garden Grill..

And since the D23 member size is far less than the number of AP-ers on any given day, well, more evidence.

Yep!

And they really should open up some of those lounges. Would certainly bring more of a "exclusive" feel to the parks, rather than just the resorts.

Silly question, but what is the point of the lounges? When I'm walking around Disney the last thing I feel like doing is going in to some boring room to sit on a couch and drink filtered water. I wanna be on rides!

 True.

It would be a nice to chill out, though, and if they were to ever create one, I would hope it would be themed to the hilt, and maybe include something exclusive, like a museum, such as the one they had in EPCOT.

Yeah, like the rather cramped AP Lounge in DAK. It certainly felt like it was far away from everything and yet had that sense whereas it felt "just right" over there.

When the rides bring long lines on a horrible day weather-wise, then that couch would be ultimate relief. :lookaroun

The old TLS Lounge looks nice...:D

I don't think that opening the lounges is what Disney needs. Those of you who live near a park already have AP's and know the secrets, have met most of the characters several times, etc. I would aim D23 at people who live farther away and use this as a way to help connect them to Disney more often. Provide perks that people who don't get to Disney on a weekly or monthly basis can use. Resort discounts and special meet and greets, dining discounts. These things would help to entice occasional visitors to join even to get the perks for one or two trips a year. Then hopefully make them want to come back more often. There is a ton of money out there and most of it lives far away from Disney, so they have to find ways to get that money into the parks more often I don't see a 1 or 2 times a year visitor going to a lounge, there is too much other stuff to do.

Aquarium views with a baby grand piano of glass? :D

Sounds totally plausible. For both AP & D23 members. :lookaroun

I agree. Why spend time in a lounge when there's other possible perks for long distance members?

Leave the lounges for us frequent visitors.. :lookaroun:lol:

Maybe they will start to include some dream fast-passes and a rub-on tattoo along with all that great stuff.
