Increased OCSO Presence?

At Christmas we had to walk through a roped off line, and there were security people around. No bag check or anything though.
That’s how it still is. Police Barricades are up and they direct you from the bus past security before entering the Springs. Security is always present here, and pretty much always have a dog as well.

I do wish you could pet the dogs… they are always so beautiful!

It always makes me feel so safe and secure to have all of the wonderful police officers with their beautiful animals patrolling the parks.

I once saw a security CM and his dog going to each trash can directly outside the park early one morning to check/ sniff for any explosive device that may be hidden in a trash can.

who said they didn’t want security? Nobody.

For decades Disney parks operated with very little “visible” security. I disagree with the level of security visible, the way the checkpoints are set up, and the training of security at WDW specifically where it seems they are permitted to be quite bossy.

That doesn’t mean I don’t think security should exist.

Law enforcement and security had to be bossy and in control back in the day of the heyday of Pleasure Island at Downtown Disney

I don’t ever remember seeing any back in that era but maybe they were busy at the dance clubs. I was at comedy warehouse and adventurers club haha.

Totally agree. But they don't need to be bossy at 7AM at the TTC when guests are trying to get their little kids through security and onto the monorail for a magical day at the Magic Kingdom.

Being tough and abrasive toward families is not the way anyone wants to start a vacation. There's a time and a place for everything. And I say this as someone who strongly supports law enforcement and understands the need for security to protect guests.

Because (and I’m NOT making excuses for them) they are what we referred to as “badge heavy”, those cops that were cops ONLY to show their supposed superiority and/or folks that couldn’t pass the exams to become real law enforcement. It’s really sad because there are the proverbial bad apples at Disney too. My only advice is to complain directly and social media.

TSA has never forced me to separate into another line from my traveling party.

This is the only complaint I have about increased security. No need to be dictatorial to me and my little children as we try to clear security with the added stress of being separated from my family. (attempted)

Said another way, security should not seem to get off on harassing kids and parents.

My security story if youre bored...

I have noticed increased security everywhere. The reason(s) are pretty clear...

Either violence is way up
or media coverage of the violence is way up.

...or maybe both. Probably both.

I like security/police present. I don't feel like you can have too much.

I'm not sure lots of extra "rent a cops" counts for anything, but gun-carrying police officers? yes please.

And, to be a little edgy, I like law-abiding citizens with ...abilities... too.

As someone who spent over a decade in a part of the world the police are known for being corrupt, known for being muscle for narcos, and known for disregarding civil liberties, and who still has PTSD from being held at gunpoint...

I respectfully disagree.
