Increased OCSO Presence?

there are a few bad apples at Disneys security checkpoint at the entrance. there are a few bad apples that just want to assert their “authority”. Still, I think overall the security is a benefit.
Youll see that in every walk of life. Some people get in positions where they like having control over others and enjoy the power of being able to intimidate them. Law enforcement, TSA, security and other jobs as those tends to attract those personalities and supervisors try to spot them early and make attitude adjustments. Over the years Ive encountered those types at Dis check points so now as I approach I try to scan who is the one to avoid and if I can Ill switch to a different line.

One can try that move standing in line at the TSA airport checkpoint or arriving in a country at the customs checkpoint line.

If you’ve seen it that much isn’t that proof that there is a customer service issue here?
It means that if someone is rude you report it and if there’s a pattern with that person it would be dealt with. Rude people are all over in all services and they only get retrained or let go if it gets to the attention of their supervisors.
That doesn’t mean Dis shouldn’t have security personnel in place.
I have said something to a supervisor that was on site and saw him take the security person aside and told him he had done wrong.

Oh gotcha. Sorry there are several different lines of thinking going on here I think I misunderstood.

Obviously Disney needs security. At what level is the question. Personally I think OC should be on the scene, but not visible.

But I do understand the idea that if they are visible at the entrance, it sends a signal that they are there.

I do think that Disney Security that interacts regularly with guests needs to go through EXTRA customer service training since they are seen as officials (wearing a badge) and they are one of the first interactions when entering a Disney park.

For the first time in a very long time, today not only did I see OCSO on property, I also saw Lake County Deputies and FHP Troopers at Disney Springs as well as FHP squad cars shooting radar on hotel plaza blvd.
They need it… the street stunts and street racing is beyond crazy. It’s just Florida, or at least Orange County, in general, but it needs to stop.

I will say, street stunts are quite rare on Disney property, but speeders (20+ over) are more common. Street racers, though, are not common nor exceedingly rare.

On Hotel Plaza Blvd today, with the amount of traffic there was, they were looking for easy prey. There was no room to get up to speed beyond 1-2mph above the speed limit

The whole country has lost law and order so I'm all for restoring it with more people willing to drop a hammer when nonsense ensues.

Violence should not be tolerated and if it happens needs to be met with equal and greater force if necessary.

People have been emboldened to act like fools because of a lack of serious consequences. That CANNOT happen at Disney. It needs to be absolutely safe for kids and families to have fun. If there is a safety concern at Disney, I don't think the company could tolerate another problem very well.

Disney Security goes through a lot more training than your basic CM both in customer interaction and other things. Sometimes, someone may have a bad day. Sometimes you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink.

Interesting. LCSO have zero jurisdiction on Disney property unless the were working a "detail" for Orange CSO and were deputized by them. In this economy you would think OCSO would have enough deputies that want the OT. A lot of agencies are short staffed, maybe this is the case.

It’s definitely not apparent.
As a retired LEO, who worked very closely with Disney security as a reserve deputy for Osceola CSO, our opinions will probably differ. I can tell you one thing. I have run into great people and idiots in every occupation I have dealt with in my life. Doctors, lawyers, managers, teachers, service industry, and yes, several officers. Just don't let the 5 percent bad outweigh your thoughts on the 95 percent good in any profession.

It was specifically one LCSO squad car parked with the OCSO ones, and later I noticed two LCSO deputies walking in Disney Springs in full uniform (seeing the squad car made me look at the patches of every officer in green that I saw.)

It was strange enough that I was curious.

FL is a free for all. No annual state inspection for cars as some states do to check brakes , exhaust , etc. Orange Blossom Trail , John Young Parkway are where the kids street race all hours of the night and a number of crosses and flowers are at sides of the road where some have died while racing or hit people on the side of the road.
