In this thread, complain about Christmas music in the parks

If you're the type of person that absolutely loves Christmas and would like to be surrounded by it at all times, this thread isn't for you. For everyone else who feels that devoting 1/6th of the year (November-December) to Christmas is overkill - welcome!

I don't really have a problem with Christmas decorations in the parks other than i wish they would wait until after Thanksgiving, but that is to be expected. One thing that has always bugged me at WDW though, is the overkill of Christmas music. I know this is nothing new, but it annoys me nonetheless.

All throughout WDW, the appropriately themed BGM loops are replaced for 2 months with Christmas music. Many areas even use the exact same loop.

Every park main entrance? Christmas music. TTC? Christmas music. Main Street, Future World except the pavilions, most of World Showcase, Hollywood and Sunset Blvd, Streets of America (though that's expected), much of DAK (though at least its appropriately themed here), all of DTD, throughout the resorts, etc, and I'm sure I'm missing a lot of localized music loops such as RnRc's queue loop being replaced with Christmas rock music.

Its absolute overkill. Someone vacationing at WDW at this time will have very little escape from the Christmas music! A bigger issue I have is that it disrupts the meticulously created atmospheres with music that is not appropriate for theme, and in turn makes WDW feel more like any other shopping center in the country. Yes, some people specifically vacation at WDW at this time to see the Christmas decorations, but that's what the Christmas decorations are for, and I'm sure many more just want to see WDW, not Christmas WDW.

What do you think? Again, please try to keep "I love Christmas and you're a terrible person if you don't love it" posts to a minimum, thanks!

I have seen WDW numerous times in my life and seen it at Spring, Fall and even a Summer. So seeing WDW at Xmas would really be cool for me and the DW. I love the decorations and the music puts me into an even more relaxed and care free attitude if you can believe that. You are not a bad person for not liking it, because I do believe in differrent strokes for differrent folks. I ask why go at Xmas time if you do not like the Music and all the festivities that comes with that season. You see when Santa Clause comes at the end of the MAcy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, that is all I want to see and hear. Christmas time to me is the most beautiful and fun time there is. The Music, the Decorations, The lights, people are a little more giving and kinder durring this time of the year. My Grandson is so excited about Santa coming. Me and My DW decorate our tree each year and stop and reflect at the memories that comes out from the decorations we hang on the tree. These are really good times for us. Christmas is also a very religious aspect for us as well with a special meaning. We love eating a lot of Sunday Dinners with Christmas Music playing in the background. Then throw in the chill in the air and hopefully some snow and it all makes it come together.

Now Christmas Music and all the decorations in other States where it is warm is a little odd for us to see because we live in Southern NJ. When we have had a warm Xmas like we did a few years ago, it felt odd, but as the family gathered and the Lights and music was on and presents being opened and then a big Turkey and Ham Xmas dinner made everything feel just right.

I love Christmas Music and love this time of year. I am so sorry for being long winded but you are touching upon something I just love and look forward to each year, even when something bad has happened. There are Christmas miracles and just like I am at WDW I am a little kid on Xmas eve and Xmas Day. So respectfully to you with no bashing at all, why do you go to WDW at Christmas time if you dislike the Music, Decorations and Holiday Spirit that others so much enjoy?

I understand what you are saying and there is certainly some Christmas theming that takes away from the parks. I have been fortunate enough to be able to go at Christmas time and I was in awe of some of the decorating. The gingerbread house in the Grand Floridian is pretty cool. I found myself reminding my wife and I to slow down and look around and not just worry about getting to the next thing. I think it is an amazing time of the year to go. Having said that, anyone that doesn't get to see the parks as they are the rest of the year is also missing out.

I actually love WDW during the holidays - the decorations are exceptional. However, I agree on the music. On my last holiday visit in 2010 - I was sick and tired of hearing Donald Duck sing 12 days of christmas. It seemed that song played at least 20 times a day everywhere on property. On my last day I went to DTD and it placed about 15 times in 2 hours. I love christmas music but I too would rather hear the regualar loop

The only complaint about repetition in Christmas music I have would be in the area over by the Rock'n'Rollercoaster last year, where it seemed like they only had 3 songs playing on a loop- Tom Petty's Christmas All Over Again, Elton John's Step into Christmas, and a tepid cover of Christmas is the Time to Say I Love You. Seriously, all the good Christmas rock songs and that's all you can muster?!? Come on! Bust out "Do They Know It's Christmas" or "Happy Xmas" by John Lennon or U2's "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)".

The one that gets me is the Wilderness Lodge Christmas loop.
There's some nice tracks mixed in, but it's so weird and uneven and totally out of character with the "normal" music.

Random musing: I wonder how many times total the theme to Dances With Wolves has been played in the Wilderness Lodge lobby since it opened...
