I just got this information off of Mouse Savers
LATEST HOT DEALS - AS OF <!-- #BeginDate format:Am2 -->8/5/06<!-- #EndDate -->
Important news for those who have booked 2006 Walt Disney World vacation packages but have not paid in full. We've been informed that all 2006 packages that have not been paid in full by end of business today (Saturday, August 5) will be subject to the ticket price increase and will pay the resort tax increase that goes into effect September 1. This is a huge deviation from Disney's previous policy, which protected the package prices of those who had paid deposits. However, we have confirmed it with two supervisors at Disney's Reservations Center. If you have booked a package and would like to avoid the ticket price increase and tax increase, it would be wise to pay for your package in full TODAY to be on the safe side!

I'm not paying more until I get a notice from Disney Reservations about it. But I plan to pay it all next week anyway.

I really doubt they would quote a price, take a deposit, and then make you pay more because they decided to raise prices.

I don't see this on MouseSavers.com...was it on the home page? This would be very odd for Disney to just spring this without a prior announcement.

It may be half true. I don't think they will increase your ticket price (at least I would hope not, as your contract is with WDW), but the resort tax is imposed by the county, so WDW has no control over that. It's similar to a sales tax, so is added when you actually pay the money. WDW is just collecting it for the county. The same thing would happen if the state sales tax were raised before you finished paying- you would owe the increase on the balance.

edited to add...the resort tax is set by the county commissioners, who can decide to raise it whenever. It may or may not go before the taxpayers, and I suspect that most of them wouldn't care, as they would only pay it if staying at a hotel. So WDW may not have had any warning about the increase.

This information is no longer on Mouse Savers. It was there at around 12:30 EST but is not there now 1:30 EST. Hopefully it was inaccurate. Disney usually honors its quoted prices so it seemed a little odd to me.

just spoke with disney

i spoke with disney and they said my package will go up 1%. if you have a package booked and dont pay for it by the end of today it will go up 1%. so take your total package price and multiply it by .01% and you will have your increase. mine goes an extra 21 dollars. thats official from Disney.

Sounds as if it's just to cover the increase in the resort tax.

I thought Reedy Creek controlled this type of stuff for the Disney Complex, or is that just developement?

I found this on my reservation confirmation from last year (it's on the back):

RATES
All rates are subject to change until package is paid in full. After package is paid in full, rate is subject to change due to imposition of taxes or other charges of governmental authorities.

Wait. Multiply by .01%?? So you're paying $210,000 for your package?!!! If that's true, then it's only 39 cents added on to my package. 1% would be $3.95 for me. That sounds more like it.

I called Disney and was told that the ticket price is protected and would not increase. The resort tax must be paid with final payment or check in -- even if the package is paid in full.

I think he meant to write .01 without the "%" :lol:
OR he's booked the super platinum diamond deluxe plan!
