Vacation Package - terms and conditions

I really doubt they would quote a price, take a deposit, and then make you pay more because they decided to raise prices.

It can happen, and you already agreed to it in the terms and conditions of your vacation package. It pays to always read the fine print !

Here's the first few pargraphs :

Terms and Conditions – Package

RATES
 • All rates are subject to change until package is paid in full. After package is paid in full, rate is subject to change due to imposition of taxes or other charges of governmental authorities. All rates are in U.S. dollars.
 • Everyone in the room must be on the same package, and, if anyone in the room has purchased ticket options, everyone in the room must purchase the same option. Additional adult charges may apply if more than two adults per room.
Booking Procedures

 • Package reservations are not accepted until confirmed by confirmation number.
 • Package features for all plans are subject to change and may be based on features available at time of arrival, not those in effect at time of booking. Documents will be delivered via express service for reservations made 14 days or less prior to arrival and will incur an additional $10 fee.
So you see it's quite possible that increases to your plan will be added even after paid in full, and you'll be told it's beyond their control.

I thought Reedy Creek controlled this type of stuff for the Disney Complex, or is that just developement?

If it's a county tax....they're still subject to collecting the tax. If this is for Orange Countly only wouldn't the All Star Resorts be exempt because they're in Oceola County?

So, even if I paid my package in full months ago, I now will have to pay the extra resort tax when I check in. Is that correct? Thanks!

It depends upon the resort. Orange county, yes; Osceola, no. Unless Osceola raises it's resort tax, too.

All-Stars are Osceola, the rest are all Orange I believe.

We had to pay $28 more for our upcoming WL package, so just the 1%.

I *thought* I had read somewhere that taxes went up in Osceola as well but I could be wrong :lookaroun

When they see what their neighbors have done, it won't take them long to follow suit. They won't pass up on the opportunity to grab some more easy money.

Get a hold of the book "Married to the Mouse" by Richard E. Fogelsong (published by Yale University Press). They (Orange and Osceola Counties) don't think they have such a great deal.

No municipality thinks it got as much out of a deal as it could have (after the fact). I think it was essential for Disney to get as much control as they did through Reedy Creek...I'm afraid to think what would happen if they had to rely on the same crappy municipal services that you and I have to.
Ultimately, through taxes, Disney, Universal, Seaworld and all the supporting hotels continue to bear a large portion of the tax based income for the area.

Municipalities consistently spend what they have and a bit more, so they are usually complaining about needing more. Where would these counties be if the tax base was what it was in the 60's with farms, pastures and some residential? Edit: oh, and a lot of swampland!
