So, some exciting news from Epcot today. I was informed by a source that today while they were upstairs in Imagination there was a steady flow of Imagineers walking in and out. They also had concept art in hand! Take it for what it's worth!

Just clearing this up for the people who will inevitably start questioning your sources...

This is a RUMOR. Thank you!

There...that should be effective...I hope.

It isn't really a rumor, this has been going on since last June. The plans were finalized then, but budget was moved to various projects. Now that only Toy Story Mania is under construction, i expect the process to begin shortly. However, the funding problem may once again stop the process. Hopefully, the full $32 Million will be given for the refurb, instead of the $16 Million which was originally provided by management.

What about SSE. I assume they'll finish that before closing the pavillion, and it wouldn't supprise me at all if they went over budget.

The numbers seem a little new to me, but then again, I don't really talk to many of my friends in the financial center anymore... If anything, the upstairs will reopen for the 25th Anniversary (from what I have been lately informed). The budget is still being re-allocated for the entire pavilion, but the project is definitely happening. It isn't a question of "if," but a question of "when."

How much ended up in the deep blue sea? The whole original budget?

Again, numbers were never my strong point, but the projections in the tank, along with the intro to the ride (and the money used to help prepare the movement of Turtle Talk from the pod to the former theater) all cut into the budget that I refer to as the "Imagination Reserve." The new sets for Imagination, creation of a new 3-D film and the refurbishment of the upstairs will be the biggest consumers for the budget. I believe that marketing is included in the final allocated budget, along with the few changes required to match the refurbished pavilion outside... I've been told that a certain rotating statue base may be in use again soon... :animwink:

Siemens is footing the entire bill on SSE.
Other than that, the other original $16 million was split between fixing the Laugh Floor Problems and the Grand Fiesta Tour. The $16 million remaining was not near enough for the bold plans involved in fixing Imagination.

Are you serial? Because I'm eagerly anticipating the moment of getting full confirmation, which will lead to eager exclamations that would get censored here as well as much partying.
Also having an Epcot-ified version of that scene towards the end of Robinsons with the future being restored playing out in my mind with the wand disappearing in bubbles and Dreamfinder materializing back at Imagination and proceeding to kick Channing in the crotch.

Oh, ok. Thanks for the info. For some reason I feel like I should have already known that but, oh well. Maybe JII will have a decent refurb after all.

Since larger font seems to get one's point across better: Why am I the only one (it seems) who doesn't have the inside scoop on the plans for JII?!? :fork::mad::hammer:

Seriously, it seems so many people know about this "Imagination Reserve," "Plans for JII for the 25th," etc. All I know is the vague details posters give out here, and a year old article I read on Jim Hill Media. This is killing me.

If any of you 'in the know' individuals would care to send me a PM, or even an anonymous email to tom.bricker@valpo.edu, giving some more specifics, I'd greatly appreciate it. I hate being the ugly duckling of the JII world.

Decent is an understatement... As said earlier, the plans for this new version are extremely bold and satisfying (at least for those of us who had specific goals for this refurb).

I though tthe goal, as it pertains to Journey, is to not suck anymore.

Maybe i'm over simplifying it
