No, not Gonzo...

My sister and her husband took thier daughter who turned 9 today to WDW last week. My wife and I both agreed that my niece (9 years old) did not look too excited in the pictures my sister posted on Facebook. Early today my mother called the aforementioned 9 year old to wish her a happy birthday and asked her about the Disney trip. She said Walt Disney World was "KINDA BORING". o_O

I just told my wife I should be permitted to go spend a week to scout things out and see what is really ok for our 5 year old and 2 1/2 year old to ride for when we are able to make a week long trip. ;)

What kind of kid thinks WDW is BORING????

Seriously, kids can get into some funny moods. In this case, I bet the 9-year-old was in a "Mary Mary Quite Contrary" mood, and so refused to get into the spirit of the thing. Why? She probably has no idea. She probably didn't know what she liked, but one thing for sure, it wasn't what anyone ELSE liked. That's kids for you. Glad I don't have any. (Don't get me wrong, I like kids a lot. But I'll stick with dogs and cats, at least for now.) ;)

I'm working on this tactic with my boy ;) Disney Junior is on in our house, we read Disney stories to him, he's watched a couple of DVDs but won't sit through the whole film yet (Aladdin and Peter Pan are his favourites so far). Hoping that by the time we get to WDW in December, he'll be firmly in the Disney fan camp ;)

My divorce in January 1999 cost me well over £50,000..My wedding in September 1999 cost me £10,000..My anniversary honeymoon in California was September 11th in 2001.. That was approx £5000. And to make matters worse,due to the terrorist attacks in New York,our flights were of course cancelled..So odd years are bad for me..

I'd take it easy on her. One of my sisters doesn't like theme parks at all. When we take big family trips she stays at the resort which is more than a good time in itself. She just got back from Scotland and London. She spends the majority of her time on beaches. She's 22 but didnt care for the parks after the age of 5.

I'm a mixture myself. We go to Disney at least once a month. I also take a big hiking trip once a year, usually the Pacific Crest Trail or the Big Sur, we go to Vegas once a year and you can find me on a beach somewhere at least once a month throughout the entire year. We also attend every Florida Gator home game and one away game. We make 1 Miami Dolphin game a year as well. My wife and I take in a concert or two a year. We fish, hunt, etc.

My point is I'm happy my wife and kids all have different interests. If all my family ever wanted to do was Disney I would be missing out on all of the other stuff I love to do.

We were planning a big family trip a couple of years ago with my two sisters and their kids. My two younger nephews had zero interest in WDW. They don't live nearby, and I'm fairly certain if I had been there to convince them, they would have been all over it. But since the kids didn't want to go, the whole trip ended up getting cancelled. Huge bummer.
