So tonight at IllumiNations when the fireworks crew went out to fix the fountains because they didn't work properly and while they were out at the barges the first 10 seconds of the show went off along with the fireworks that shoot off on the water while they were out there. Ended up delaying the show for 30 minutes to reset everything since they manually shut down everything for emergency safety.

WHOA! That's a big time screw up on someone's part. Was it actually time for the show to start? As in, the announcements played and the computer started the show automatically? Or was this even before the show should have started?

I'm surprised they didn't cancel the whole thing, with that big of a mistake.

Well they usually do a fountain test right at the last safety announcement. Three of the four were not working so they went out to fix them so they had to turn off the inferno barge because it was ready to go for the show so they could go out there and while they were fixing them the first 10 seconds of the show started and the boat drivers booked it out of there. Luckly they were at the inferno barge when the fireworks on the water went off from the fountain barges.

It was close to 9:00 because they were out fixing the fountains on the fountain barges. The guy came on and said it was delayed for technical difficulties and then the first 10 seconds of the show went off before it completely shut down.

On Tuesday night an entire quadrant of Russia on the globe was totally dark through the entire performance...I still like the show but would agree that changes/improvements are hopefully forthcoming to freshen the experience.

It's a shame that this happened, and I agree that this show needs to be improved upon. In all honesty, we haven't stayed for Illuminations for a long time. It just grew to be a crowded bore. We would stay for something new or different, but for now it is simply easier to leave the park by using the distraction of this show to allow for fewer people at the exit.

I agree that World of Color (or a similar type show) wouldn't work at Epcot. They would have to drain the entire lagoon to install the fountains and other infrastructure. I seriously doubt World of Color will be coming to WDW anytime soon.

That being said, I would not be opposed to an reimagined version of Illuminations that borrowed some elements from World of Color.

I think Disney would be out of their minds if they changed or got rid of Illuminations. It's perfect the way it it is. Now a refubisment. That's a different story. They've been been having way too many technical problems lately and they should give the show a break for a few months to fix the globe and restore the fountains. Attractions get refurbs and obviously, their show props need it too. So why not?

World of Color does NOT belong in EPCOT. How many times has that wish been dispelled on these boards? The lagoon is natural and the infrastructure for WoC requires a controlled/ man-made aquatic environment.
Calm down!

Something fun and different like that would be cool. Compared to everything else, illuminations is just mediocre. Sound like a Disney brat, but it's true...
