Maybe Eisner will come back? :hammer::lookaroun

I have a strong feeling that Staggs will likely become the next CEO. I think the writing has been on the wall since him and Rasulo switched positions next year. With the huge things happening to parks and resorts now and in 2015/2016, they will use that to raise his stock. The guy who was able to oversee all that development will look very attractive for a future CEO. Of course this is still a while away, but based on how Staggs has been responding to fans and criticism I wouldn't mind seeing him as CEO.

Yeah, that sounds like a good assumption.

Can you imagine, if by some crazy turn of events, Lasseter became CEO?:lol::fork::sohappy::lookaroun

Lasseter is a very creative guy, and I am glad that he is in the position that he has. I don't think that I would want him running the entire business though, because he hasn't really proved himself as a business man. This is why Walt needed Roy way back when as well. Dreams mean nothing if you can't manage the money behind them.

This is so true and far to many people forget this. Walt's creativity was without measure but his financial sense was on the opposite end of the spectrum. If it was not for Roy I doubt Disney as a company would even still exist. The Yin needs a Yang. I want Lasseter doing what he does best...creating.

:ROFLOL: Lasseter would have everyone come to work in hawaiian shirts, and WDW would change to "Walt Disney Pixar Universe- The happiest place on earth and cyberspace."

I think your spot on. Creativity is achieved best when the numbers are left to the numbers people.

Three and a half years is a long time to groom someone. It would be quite the irony, but I wouldn't mind seeing Lasseter...assuming he wants it.

Seems to go along with what everyone has been saying. Apparently he has political aspirations back in NY.

I HOPE this means good things for the company. Just have a while to wait.

ITA with this.

I haven't followed it that closely, but it seems like each CEO has taken the company into different directions to the point where you can characterize "The Eisner years" , etc. I wonder what will be next.

Great to see TWDC planning this far ahead. I assume some of the position shifts we've seen over the last couple years have been with this in mind.

See, I think a lot of the problems the parks have today is directly related to people who are really good with numbers and don't have as much experience (or a knack) with the artistic side.

I know parks is only a small part of the company, but I wouldn't mind a dreamer being CEO if he had a trustworthy CFO under him.

We have to wait until 2015? :ROFLOL:

Interesting that he's retiring right before "Avatarland" :P opens. Let the NEXT guy deal with the mess!

Needless to say, I won't miss him...

After 35 plus years with ABC/Disney, I don't blame him for wanting to get out. I have also heard the political rumors but at 65 years old( in '16), it seems like a bit late in the game to start this new endeavor. Hey you never know?

A CEO does much more than just think of and sign off on big ideas. They have to be able to go to the bargaining table and negotiate and merger, acquisition, or fend off a takeover. As of right now, I wouldn't feel comfortable with someone like Lasseter at the meeting if another Comcast like offer was to come across the table again. In addition, I doubt that Lasseter would even want to be CEO. If he has shown us anything through his tenure at Disney, he is much more interested in coming up with new ideas as opposed to sitting in an office and funding them.

According to our Spirited friend, Iger has quite a bit of support up in NY and has aspirations of Mayor of NYC of Governor of NY.

I think that this will end up being good news for TWDC. He has never shown a hint of creativity within himself and that is what a company like Disney needs at the forefront. Though I am very curious on who will be groomed for successor. I can't see someone like Iger picking someone unlike him to follow in his footsteps.

Funny enough, Eisner didn't believe Disney needed or should participate in acquisitions and mergers. He thought the company was big enough and strong enough to be able to develop from within. Then again, he also completed one of the largest acquisitions in Disney history, but building a major network from the ground up might have been too big of an undertaking.

Also funny was that Eisner consider Iger to be a "problem" executive not long after the ABC acquisition...yet he chose him as a successor. Guess the guy was just full of contradictions!

Iger's resignation would coincide with Disneyland's 60th! I wonder what would happen. With Roy E. Disney's passing, I hope it's someone who won't ruin Disney stock...

Yes, now that you mention it, I also had a Spirit whisper something like that in my ear.

I think his ideology has become so entrenched in TWDC and the corporate world in general that his successor will likely be quite similar.
