Iger Confirms Star Wars Domestic Parks Presence

I am surprised that nothing has been done yet. That soundstage has been empty so long.

Others with more knowledge can comment, but it's not completely empty as it is used for backstage stuff. I think they were using it as a space for testing some aspects of MM+/MBs this past year (someone feel feel to correct me if incorrect).

Still, there's no reason for such a prime location to be left as backstage, especially given the lack of new attractions at DHS. Unlike so many other planned projects, this one doesn't require the loss of an existing ride. The sad thing is that the space was totally prepared to be used for the Monsters Inc door coaster a while ago (2008?) when the project was put on hold. The outside of the building was even given some elements consistent with the Monsters Inc factory from the movie which are still there.

I'd feel a lot better about the direction of WDW if they would put a few ride in that space. Doing so makes so much sense and would help to mitigate future problems if/when a lot of current attractions get shut down to build Star Wars (AIE, IJ stunt show) or an expanded Pixar Place (LMA, Backlot Tour). And having any sort of ride that is more kid friendly would help out the lines at TSMM (though the door coaster would likely have some sort of height restriction, but I would think it would be pretty short).

Let's put this in perspective. Disney won't officially confirm which characters are going to appear in Snow White's Scary Adventures and that attraction is expected to open in less than two months. Avatar was first mentioned on September 20, 2011 and 2 1/2 years later we know that there is a "simulator" and a "boat ride". Star Wars was officially intimated last August at the D23 Expo which means we won't have the most rudimentary details on it until Fall 2015 with the earliest possible opening date of late 2017.

Meanwhile there's a substantial plot of land that's been cleared in Jurassic Park over at IOA. Who wants to bet that guests will be able to smell bananas in that area before we know the name of a new Star Wars attraction?

I don't believe that is a fair bet at all.

I've already got a bet with Jimmy Thick on here regarding Universal's attendance vs. Disney's in 2015. Let's do this. $100 to a charity like Give Kids the World. I'll take a new attraction opening in the current Jurassic Park area of IOA over Disney officially announcing the name of a new Star Wars attraction in Florida.
