Iger Confirms Star Wars Domestic Parks Presence

It's probably worth re-linking the Micechat article from October 8, which discussed potential plans for Star Wars additions at TL in Disneyland. It's likely that whatever ends up at DHS will likely be similar to what is seen at DL. Anyhow, the article talks about....

* Millennium Falcon walk through with Chewbacca M&G
* Mos Eisley Cantina with " interactive dining/entertainment concept using the Star Wars universe"
* Speeder Bike thrill ride
* Ewok village and walk-through attraction that will house dining and shops

(There's also been talk in the past, not from that article, about an interactive show -- possibly an indoor version of the Jedi Academy with Yoda or a 4D movie -- replacing the Eo theater in DL.)

This is the kind of small ball which makes me want to hurl,

Actions speak louder than words... Until cranes are on site and actual building begins, I take nothing Iger says with any merit...

Absolutely - There ought to be a site which collects all the TWDC press releases and like Mythbusters classifies them as actual or 'Busted' which would cover about 99.99999 percent of all 'new attraction' press releases from TWDC.

I don't think anyone doubts that something Star Wars is coming to the parks. That seems all but a certainty. The impatience comes from the timeline. If Disney had a steady stream of new attractions coming over the next several years, folks would be more patient. But they don't. And for the last several years, they haven't. We're impatient for anything - even the kid's coaster set to open next year.

Star Wars is a big juicy steak to most people. And we've been living through a famine that isn't going to end for at least a few more years. Of course people are drooling all over themselves for that steak Disney is teasing them with.

The other part of the reaction is skepticism. At this point, being skeptical of Disney is healthy. Saves you from massive disappointment when all this teasing turns out to be for gift shops, meet and greets and a C-ticket attraction. Hopefully that won't be the case. But if you don't at least prepare yourself for the possibility of Disney cheaping out, you're setting yourself up for a massive disappointment 5 years from now.

ie some merch and a couple of Meet-n-Gropes

The entrance to Star Tours is set up as a set, not as the actual Star Wars universe.

What makes it a set? I guess I've iverlooked this.

I think it is supposed to be a spaceport in that galaxy. People assume that it is supposed to be a movie set since it is in that park. But I could be wrong.

I think Lazyboy was referring to the way the "Endor" part of the Star Tours facade is designed to be very obviously a "movie set" to visiting guests.
Things like trees and the big robot are only half-built, with scaffolding and exposed stage lighting visible as soon as you're deep enough into the queue to look back at it.
The motif is continued and enhanced across the street at Backlot Express.
These are intentional design choices that went along with the original concept of the park being a giant "live set," not just Disney being cheap.

Once you're inside the building though, the concept shifts, and you're in the "real" Star Wars world, like at the original Disneyland ride.

The queue itself one you are in the building is set up like a spaceport. But outside the ride, there is stuff like a cardboard cutout of an AT-AT setup as though it is part of a movie set. At least that is what I recall (never really paid that much attention to be honest).

I believe that the plan is to have Phase 1 of DHS' SWland, which will consist of the new StarWarsMart and the "Bathrooms of Endor" open on Oct. 1st, 2021 as a special gift for The MK's 50th Birthday.
there are so many themed bathrooms comments.. makes me wonder why Disney doesnt open a Plumbing and bathroom decoration shop.

"Make your kid enjoy his dump time with this amazing millenium falcon shaped potty!"
"feel the magic while you go to the loo with this awesome goofy shaped back brush"

What's the appeal of building a Mos Eisley Cantina? Seems like a dusty and dingy place. Not sure why everyone is clamoring for this.
