If you could visit the parks in history...when?

So, on a snowy crummy afternoon here in PA I was just pondering the question of myself "If I could go back in time to any genre or specific date what would it be?"

For us our favorite and most memorable trip was October1996. We were married one year and ended up at Disney because we got chased out of the Floriday Keys by a hurricane. As many newlyweds we did not have a pot to pee in nor a window to throw it out and were trying to make the best of having our free digs in the keys yanked out from under us by mother nature. We stayed at the Howard Johnsons out in Kissimmee for $37.99 a night including breakfast (yeah that was for real).

The MK was well maintained, EPCOT was still at the crescendo of it's awesomeness and MGM (DHS for you youngheads) was up and running full force. Cast members were enjoying their jobs (and it showed), maintenance issues were unheard of, cleanliness was never in question and there was no such thing as DDP or DVC....it truly was the good old days!!!

If you could go back to another time in the parks when would it be and why?

Nothing but rain here in Atlantic City.... Hmmm Id have to say our first trip, when my son was not quite 3. (1992) I had been to Disneyland as a kid, but this was my first trip, as well as my son's first trip to Disney World. We STILL go and relive that trip, and every memory comes rushing back to us both. To see the magic and wonderment in my little boy's eyes, as well as my own childhood reminding me of how my Dad (who had passed years earlier) told me, Pluto was my Pal... No wonder I cry when I see Pluto LOLOL

Been a regular visitor since WDW opened and there was only one park. The 90's were the best. Resorts, attractions and park opening and expanding with regularity. WaterParks came online, mini golf along with the Boardwalk and nightlife district.

Every year there were multiple new things to visit. Parks were clean, painted and the food had improved from the 80's yet still free of the current dining plan. What an Era. Then came the new century and everything went to heck.

What if I told you that you can still to that today. Maybe not Howard Johnsons but there are many chains with incredibly low prices during the off season.

As for what time would I go back too, I would say about 1986 EPCOT Center. It was alive with imagination, humor and entertainment. Today, it's good, but not as good as it was then. Spaceship Earth narrated by Walter Cronkite, (didn't care much for WoE back then), WoL, Horizons, WoM, The Seas, with the underwater elevator (can't remember the name) (I just remembered...Hydolators) and the Sea Cab ride through the middle of the tank, The land, Imagination with the Dreamfinder and Figment.

We've been going to WDW since 1985; however, I always wished my parents had taken me somewhere between the ages of 3-5. I know it would have only been MK, but I still would have liked to have my first trip back then....so, in light of that- I'd like to go back and visit sometime between 1976-1978.

Since WDW and myself were born at almost the same time, and I've been going fairly regularly over the years, I'd say anytime from 76' through the early 90's. The parks were at their best and up until the late 80's, my grandparents (fathers side) were both alive and loved WDW, so yeah, that's were I'd go. Great question.

I would chose our family vacation in 1978. Disney was a lot smaller then with only the two hotels and the campground that we stayed in. I believe it was one of the last years the train ran through the campground and we would spend at least one day at river country. The guests and the staff seemed a heck of a lot nicer back then. I enjoyed the different shops on Main Street. My brother and I always wanted to buy the dog leashes that looked like it had an invisible dog at the end or viewing the penny arcade movies. I also loved the two waterfalls that use to be at the entrance to tomorrowland.

My first trip to WDW was June of 1990 and it came and went so fast we missed so much. I would love to be able to go back to when each of the parks opened. But the one thing I have noticed in many of the post was how CLEAN and how Great the services were in the 1990's. I tell people constantly they wouldn't believe how much cleaner and better things were prior to 911.

I'm going to go the selfish route here and pick when animal kingdom first opened. back when it was countdown to extinction an not that disney movie that ticket sales went extinct after opening weekend, dinosaur. I'd go and find myself as a much younger naive child and I would explain to him, calmly an then because I never listen to people Being my future self, I would quite harshley yell. "FOR THE LOVE OF GOD AND ALL THAT IS HOLY DON'T BUY THESE AWESOME COUNTDOWN TO EXTINCTION TOYS. YES THEY LOOK VERY COOL NOW LIKE A BIG STUFFED ANIMAL BUT WITH RUBBER INSTEAD OF FUR BBUT IT IS A HUGE MISTAKE! A YEAR FROM NOW YOU WILL OPEN YOUR CLOSET TO FIND THOSE 20 TO 75 DOLLAR TOYS CANT HANDLE ANYTHING LESS THAN PERFECT ENVIROMENTS AND THE RUBBER WILL BREAKDOWN AND STICK TO ITSELF AND MELT AND YOU WILL HAVE A 200 BAG OF GROSS TRASH!!! then with that out of the way after yelling at myself like that I would buy younger me a frozen banana because being future me, I know they are amazing.

Haha, I'm only half serious. It would be nice to go in the early 80's, right after Epcot had opened, just to see some of the original attractions at both parks. But I wasn't born until 1985, and I only went once as a child, so I don't have the nostalgia for the old stuff that most people have.

I want to go back to when Disney Hollywood Studios was all about Dick Tracy and Roger Rabbit again. (Childhood favorites) One last trip to the old Imagination pavilion would be nice too.
